"Achieving Our Dreams through Education"
Good Stuff
It is already the middle of May! The school year has went by quickly.
Good Quotes from Educators this Week:
5. "Before you start your end-of-the-year countdown, remember that for some students, this means the end of hot lunch, snacks, social interaction, and a safe place"(Teacher, Connecticut).
4. "If school is preparing kids for life, shouldn't school reflect real life?" (Teacher,New York)
3. "You never forget the teacher who made an impact on your life" (Principal, Texas).
2. "Educators are in the life-changing business. As educators, we can never forget this" (Administrator, Missouri).
1. "Be wary of non-teachers who sell magic edu-bullets. Nothing can replace relationships, content knowledge, and good pedagogy" (Teacher, New York).
GOAL MET
So far, we have yet to gather our 5th grade data, we have met and passed our literacy goal for this year, we wanted to increase our grade level readers (green, tier 1) according to the ISIP by 10% and from what we heard last Friday we surpassed it. Congratulations! Thank you for your hard work.
In teacher we measure our success by how our students fair academically, after all we are "teachers" and we teach stuff. It is important to be able to know if our kids are learning, and if they are not, we reflect and change to ensure our kids success.
TRUST
We learned about trust on Friday, this was a powerful lesson to me as I have been reflecting on it's importance and how I can improve it with you and with the families we serve. Having a formal role places the responsibility, on me, and on us as educators to develop this trust; rather than waiting for families to reach out to us.
Student Art Display
We also have our 3rd graders work is also at the Little Big Horn College library.
They are both very nice exhibits.
