Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Hermosa, Illinois. He and his family moved to Marceline, Missouri, where Disney spent most of his childhood. He began to have an interest in drawing and painting and eventually started to make his own. When he was older, he moved to Kansas City to pursue his art career. Disney got a job at the Kansas City Film Ad Company and began to make animations. He then started his own company and showed Laugh O Grams at his local theatre. They were a great success and Disney made lots of money off of them. Unfortunately, the company went bankrupt and decided to move to Hollywood, California. There, Disney opened up Disney Brothers Studio with his brother, Roy, and his coworker, Ub iwerks. They started to make cartoons like Alice in Wonderland and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. They also made a new cartoon character named Mickey Mouse. Disney Brothers Studios began to make animated shorts of Mickey Mouse. It became instantly popular, something that anyone can enjoy. Disney Brothers Studios made their first full length movie on December 21, 1937, called Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. It made an astonishing 1.5 million dollars. A theme park called Disneyland was opened in 1955. This was a place where everyone could have fun and enjoy themselves for a while. There were rides and many different attractions. Sadly, a few years after the opening, Walt Disney died from lung cancer on December 15, 1966.
