Greene School Sign on Kenwood Road

You may have noticed the sign on Kenwood Road that indicates where the Greene School is located has been removed. This was done at the request of the City of Blue Ash. Thank you to those who have contacted us. We are in communications with them about where the sign can be relocated and hope to have it back up soon!

Halloween Candy Donations Please!!!

Wondering what to do with all of that Halloween candy? Please consider donating it for use as prizes at the Greene Carnival. It’s a great way to get that candy out of the house and put it to good use, and it is very easy to do! Just drop off your candy in the bin at the front entrance to the Greene School. We really appreciate your contribution!

PBIS at Home- Be Safe

Being safe at school means having a calm body at all times, staying in your designated area, watching out for others around you, walking instead of running and using materials and tools correctly. This is extremely important in hallways, the cafeteria, the playground and on the bus, as well as in classrooms. Part of being safe at school also involves another one of our sayings, “If you see something, say something!” We want our students to feel emotionally safe as well as physically safe.

How does this translate to home? Having a calm body around the house or out in the community is important so no one gets injured. If your child is home alone, does he know what to do to be safe? Does she check to see that doors are locked? Does he know rules about answering the phone and what to say if someone calls?

When she is out in the community, talk about safe behavior and don’t be afraid to set limits! Remember, children need boundaries! Don’t forget to talk about what to do if they happen to find themselves in an unsafe situation. It can be a scary conversation, but one that is needed! Don’t forget to reward those safe behaviors when you see them or when your child tells you about a situation where he made a great choice. Being aware of your surroundings, looking at for others, and making great choices are life skills that will keep your children safe! Next week, we’ll look at how to “Be a Problem Solver” at home!

Please sign up to donate to support the luncheon for Winton Hills Academy Staff. Winton Hills Academy (WHA) and Sycamore Schools have enjoyed a “sister school” relationship for over a decade! This is the 2nd consecutive year that E.H. Greene has joined the sister school relationship with WHA.

When your child comes home and you ask what happened at school, is their response "Nothing"? Check out this article that provides some conversation starters to help you figure out what's really going on at school.
