Principal's Update
September 10, 2021
Welcome back!
We started the first two days of school with extended homeroom in which scholars received supplies and reviewed schoolwide expectations. We also had grade level town hall meetings on the first day of school. During the town hall meetings, we introduced scholars to our vision "Ready for success" and provided some ways for scholars to be "Ready for success":
- Show up & be on time
- Pass your classes each marking period
- Being positive and striving to do your best
- Believe in yourself!!!
We closed the meeting by having scholars repeat the following:
I am ready for success
You are ready for success
We are ready for success
We spoke about the importance of scholars believing those words both inside and outside of school.
Yesterday (September 9), we followed our regular bell schedule. Next week on Thursday, September 16, school will be closed for Yom Kippur. For those families observing Yom Kippur, "Have an easy fast".
Tomorrow, September 11, 2021, is the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Please take a moment to pause and remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 along with those first responders and military members that served and protected us.
COVID 19 Safety
- If your scholar is sick or showing COVID 19 symptoms, KEEP THEM AT HOME. Sending scholars to school when they are sick, puts the safety of other scholars and staff at risk.
- All scholars must wear their mask properly while inside the school and when riding the bus regardless of their vaccination status.
General Reminders
- Our school opens at 7:20 AM. Scholars should be here by 7:30 AM to provide them with enough time for breakfast and go to their lockers before first period begins.
- Scholars should bring their Chromebooks to school every day. Chromebooks must be charged at home.
- Scholars should be bringing home their planners each day. You can look at their planners to see any work that has been assigned.
- If you have not signed up for ParentPortal or need help with your account, please email parent.portal@ecsdm.org.
