Welcome to Second Quarter!

Dear Prospector Families,

It is hard to believe that we just started the second quarter! It feels like we have found a routine and new rhythm in our distance learning and independent study platforms. We continue to face some challenges with technology, balancing home lives and school, and some academics. This is hard for everyone! We are continuing to work on solutions, including maintaining momentum with improving our school and instructional program. We have so much to celebrate over the past two years of growth! This month we are working on:

  • Teacher professional development - data analysis and forming targeted instructional groups for our students, in depth lesson planning to meet standards, Zoom, and more.
  • Learning Schedules will be evaluated and reflected upon as we look at student success and support needs.
  • Student support - small group academic support, small group social emotional support, English Learner services, and a plan for academic tutoring.
  • School community - planning two school events, launching our Jr. Coaching program, and encouraging participation in spirit weeks and days.
  • Family and Faculty Association (FFA) meeting to be scheduled for new officer elections, and new School Site Council (SSC) Members to be announced.
  • Reopening plans, including: schedules, site safety protocols, and survey result analysis.
  • This year, our school is under Federal Program Monitoring. (FPM) This entails an extensive audit of our instructional programs. We will be working on compiling files and collecting evidence of compliance for our review.

We post regularly on Class Dojo School Story and our Facebook Page if you'd like to keep up on weekly happenings at YVES.

We can do hard things together! Keep on keeping on, Prospector Families!

In Partnership,

Celeste Wahlberg, MA, MEd

Reopening Plans

Last week, a survey went out from Morongo Unified School District (MUSD) to get parent feedback on reopening plans. MUSD is making plans to tentatively reopen on January 19, 2021. Several of our families expressed concern and asked additional questions. (FAQ below and la versión en español está abajo).

I appreciate your communication, and I have been relaying your concerns and questions to the District.

Thank you for working to engage in learning! We have 355 Prospectors with PERFECT ATTENDANCE for the month of September!! Congratulations!

  • Attendance laws and government policies are still in effect during COVID-19. We are required to issue letters and make appointments with families to find solutions for students who have 90% or less attendance. Anything below 90% attendance is considered truant.
  • Please continue to communicate technical issues or absences with teachers and our school office.
  • Have your child to attempt to complete work even if they aren't able to get on the Zoom call.
  • For independent study, make every effort to keep your appointments. Student work completion/turned in on time is critical for attendance credit.
