Student Leaders painted our Purple Star!
Principal's Message:
Greetings Colts Community,
It was another great week in Colt Country! On Thursday, April 4th, Bonsall West hosted our districtwide Purple Star Ceremony. Bonsall West and all BUSD Schools were awarded The Purple Star! This is a distinguished honor as The Purple Star Award from the State of California recognizes schools that provide outstanding support to military-connected students and families. Of the over 10,000 schools in California, only 43 have been selected for this honor. A few special shout outs to Mrs. Stegmiller and her class for an amazing performance! There were a lot of tears of joy! Thank you Mr. Guzman for being the soundman for the program as well as leading our student leaders in creating the giant Purple Star in the grass! Scroll down to our Colts in Action section of the newsletter for pictures!
Here is how we are celebrating the Month of the Military Child at BWE:
Military trivia all month long: Students can get a prize each week for having answers to all the questions!
Leadership Day from 8:30-9:30 on April 10th in the MPR
Spirit week: From April 15-19th CLICK HERE for Calendar
Purple up day: April 15th; Military kids get to have lunch with the principal
Marines Fitness challenge: April 19th
Military child themed Door Decorating Contest: From April 22-26 (Winning class gets a popsicle party!)
MOMC finale: April 30th wear purple, stars and/or glittery shirts to bring the month of the military child to a dazzling close!
Lunch on the Lawn:
Mark your calendars for our last Lunch on the Lawn this year will be Friday, April 12th. We respectfully ask you to please not check out your students and have them finish the school day. Reminder, you must stay in the respective grade level areas for lunch with your students. If you are a TK/K parent and want your child to go with you to eat with an older sibling to please sign them out of the TK/K lunch area. This will help us ensure where every child is during this fun event. Lastly, please do not park in the fire lanes or in the parent pick up lanes as this disrupts the flow of dismissal.
Another reminder that our PTA is ready to celebrate all of the diverse cultures that make our school community amazing! Mark your calendars for April 19th for Our Multicultural Night to celebrate the diversity of our school community.
In other news, Mrs. Milton's and Mr. Guzman's classes enjoyed another visit to the Bonsall Farm! Check out the pictures in our Colts in Action section of the newsletter!

COVID Test Kits
Bonsall Unified School District has supplied two COVID test kits per student for our site. If you would like you, the parent or guardian, may pick them up at Bonsall West Elementary. These COVID tests are provided to you as a courtesy. Testing is not required by our district.
Although we are excited to have your child attend school every day, when your child is sick, we do ask you to keep him or her at home. Specifically, if your child has tested positive for COVID, he or she should remain at home for five (5) days from the onset of symptoms or positive COVID test (if asymptomatic). Your child may return on Day 6, unless he or she remains sick. Masking upon return to school is not required by the District.
We wish you great health as we know the cold and flu season approaches, and encourage you to place special attention to taking practical steps to boost your student’s immune system by providing nutritious food, proper amounts of sleep, and good doses of exercise.
