There are few things that have changed as much in the last five years than the demand of the social media landscape on school district and community leaders. From conflicts and crises – to the craziest of the crazy – leaders have an extraordinary opportunity to build relationships and deepen trust.

We'll explore a few of the common issues with leadership challenges in the social media age, and you'll leave with a fresh, principled understanding of these opportunities to make a difference in your district and community.

STRATEGIC COMMUNICATOR & ADVISER

First and foremost, I pride myself in my ability to assess virtually any challenge faced by organizations by asking the right questions, listening to the answers and focusing on practical steps that deliver results. This approach solves problems, and it often leads to exciting change and innovation.

I use my broad expertise and experience in K-12 and post-secondary public education to meet strategic goals by leveraging communications tools, from traditional print to social media -- and everything in between. I manage a range of issues through planning, strategic communications and message framing. I plan and execute communications response in a crisis event. And I design ways to increase stakeholder engagement and trust by building transparency.

COLLABORATOR

To be effective, a strategic communicator will work in every corner of an organization at one time or another, and my collaboration skills reflect this. Open to different ideas and perspectives, I seek to establish common ground, connection and mutual goals. And I find that building positive collaborative relationships is a powerful way to develop creative solutions to existing challenges and help organizations move forward.
