COVID TEST KIT DISTRIBUTION
PUSD announced yesterday in a communication that each student will receive a COVID Test Kit to be distributed by Friday. Westview will distribute our test kits during homeroom, Wednesday April 6th. Each box contains two individual tests.
Parents/Guardians may use the kits at their discretion as outlined below:
- As a screening tool to ensure your child is healthy to continue to attend school, particularly if your child is not showing any symptoms.
- If your child already has had a positive test, you may use one of the tests in the kit on or after Day 5 of isolation, as evidence of a negative result before being allowed to return to school. In an effort to maintain in-person learning, and address the lack of available testing appointments at local clinics, the at-home tests will be accepted as evidence of your child’s negative result.
- If your child is quarantining as a close contact, the tests can also be used as evidence of a negative result. Follow the updated testing and quarantine guidelines attached.
- Any additional tests should be saved for if or when your child might experience symptoms or be named as a close contact to a positive case.
- Please remind students that these tests are NOT TO BE USED DURING THE SCHOOL DAY. THEY ARE TO BE TAKEN HOME.
If your student is absent on that day and you wish to pick up their test kit, you will be able to pick it up at the front office from 7:30 – 4:00 pm.Please make sure that you know the name of your student’s homeroom teacher in order to expedite the process. If you are unable to pick up the test kit and would like to designate someone to pick it up for you, please email their name to vmash@powayusd.com.
IMPORTANT! If you do NOT want your child to receive a test kit to bring home, please communicate that clearly to your child, and send this opt-out form with them to school. We will keep track of students who receive their test kits and students who opt out.
If you attend New Directions, you will pick up your test kit from New Directions. If your student does not have a homeroom, please have them pick up their test kit at the front office on Thursday or Friday.
Please continue to report student absences and confirmed positive COVID cases using our attendance hotline. Should you have quarantine or close contact questions, please visit the Covid update page of our school website.
Thank you for your partnership and patience as we work together to keep our Wolverine Community safe.
