From the Principal

Kia ora koutou,

Welcome back everyone and a special welcome to all new students and families who are starting at Otautau School for the first time. Term 1 is going to be extremely busy again with swimming, athletics and senior camps all happening during this term.

Swimming

We have been lucky enough again to secure funding for the students to receive free swimming lessons this term. Learning to swim is an essential skill all children need to learn and we have secured the services of a qualified swimming instructor to take these lessons. Swimming will begin on the first day of school - so please remind children to bring their swimming bag to school next week. More information about class swimming will come home next week via your class teacher - through the Seesaw app.

School Lunches

This year the Otautau Food Centre will be running the Friday school lunches. They will be putting out an exciting new menu soon so watch this space for more information. Due to school swimming we will not be starting Friday school lunches until 24 February.

Nga mihi,

Simon Bell

Get to Know You Conferences

We will be holding our 'Get to Know You' Conferences over three afternoons this term. The dates are Monday, 13 February through to Wednesday, 15 February. A form will go home early next week for you to complete and then send back to school. What is completed on the form will be a basis for discussion during the conferences. Please click on the School Interview link below to make a time to meet with your child's teacher.

Touch Rugby

Touch Rugby begins again in Term 1 on Monday, 20 February. We look forward to seeing a large number of Otautau School children playing touch this term. Please click on the link below to register your child. We will also be after team managers to look after the team on the day.

Registrations for touch will close the Wednesday before touch begins (Wednesday, 15 February).

Cyber Safety Agreements / BYOD

Next week your child will bring home the school cyber safety agreement for you to sign and go over with your child. The agreement needs to be signed and returned to your child's class teacher for them to keep on file.

If your child is bringing their own device to school then they will also have another form that will need to be completed and returned to school. Please contact your child's class teacher if you have any questions relating to children bringing their own device to school.
