Believe and Achieve Times
Student and Parent edition: August 9, 2021
Welcome Back!
As we begin the 2021-22 school year we will return to our normal start time at 7:40am and will be in-person 5 days a week. We will also continue to follow the Duneland School Corporation's COVID Response Plan. (Please see updates below) As we continue to navigate through the pandemic we are continuing to stress respect for each other's personal beliefs. Masks are required on the bus as this is a federal mandate. All students that choose to wear a mask at school (The Level 2 mitigation measures recommend face coverings for unvaccinated students and staff members) as always will not be allowed to wear masks with messaging on them. We will continue to encourage washing of hands, social distancing when possible, and contact trace students that have been in direct contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19.
If we continue to work together as a Duneland family through this pandemic we can help all of our students reach their maximum potential and help them achieve greatness. It is time for Mission Possible!
Check Skyward for Schedule Changes on Tuesday evening!

Mr. Robert DeRuntz selected as Top 10 finalist in Indiana's Teacher of the Year
Chesterton High School Social Studies teacher, Robert DeRuntz, has been selected as one of the 2022 Indiana Teacher of the Year (INTOY) Top 10 Finalists.
In the Spring of 2020, Robert was selected as a DSC Secondary Teacher of the Year, but due to COVID-19 pandemic, the state delayed its INTOY recognition program. This year, school corporations were encouraged to submit their winners from the past two years into the state's nomination pool.
Each year, the Indiana Teacher of the Year Program (INTOY) works to inspire, rejuvenate, and celebrate the teaching profession by recognizing outstanding teachers from across the state. The INTOY award is a lifetime role in education, which has many opportunities to celebrate teaching and uplift the teaching profession. Indiana Teachers of the Year are a network of exceptional
teachers who are current or retired educators, administrators, and teacher leaders who continually provide support to the education community.
The Top 10 Finalists will be considered by the selection committee as they select the “Top 3” Finalists.
