4th Grade MOSAIC
Caring Through Sharing Service Project
This year the 4th grade students will be participating in a philanthropic project to benefit the children of Children’s Hospital of Minnesota. Instead of the traditional Valentine’s Day party where students give each other cards and candy, we will be opening our hearts to those who could use the cheer even more than we do.
We will be constructing fleece tie-blankets on February 12th to donate to Children’s Hospital. These blankets will benefit and comfort the many sick children that spend time at the hospital. We are going to start by collecting money and loose change to purchase fleece for the blankets. We will have a friendly competition to see which class can collect the most money towards purchasing fleece. We will then take our “fleece fund” and purchase a variety of fleece sets at JoAnn Fabrics. Please feel free to send in any JoAnn Fabric coupons as well. Please send in your donation between NOW and February 5th. We will be asking for volunteers to help cut the fleece and prepare the blankets before our service learning project on February 12th. Please consider donating your time to help fringe the blankets. Heather Seigler will be heading up this event with Mrs. Skogstad. These blankets will definitely provide warmth and comfort to many sick children, but also warm the hearts of our students.
Thank you for your support with this invaluable experience!
Please send money to school in a sealed envelope or baggie clearly labeled.

Prepare Fleece Blankets for the Service Project
On February 10th, the 4th grade team will need volunteers who are willing to help prepare our fleece
blankets for the following day. We will need parents to cut the blankets and fringe them so that the students
can tie them on February 12th. We are expecting to have around 50 or more blankets for our students to tie. We will have a few spare pair of fabric scissors available for use or you can bring your own. If you
would like to volunteer, please RSVP below by Monday, February 9th. We will supply snacks for our helpers on behalf of the 4th grade team! Please arrive anytime after 8:45. Thank you in advance!
