Benjamin Rush was born in December in 1745 and was born in Bayberry, Pennsylvania. When he was young his father died and his mother sent him away to his uncle Dr. Finely. And he became his teacher for years. Eventually in 1759 he went to the college of Philadephia. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Eventually Benjamin became the Professor of medical theory and clinical practice at the consolidated University of Pennsylvnia. But before that he was appointed treasurer of the U.S mint. From 1797 to 1813. He wrote the first chemistry textbook and he signed the Declaration of Independence.
