Bowl with Lyon County 4-H
The Lyon County 4-H will have a bowling party at Tracy Lanes on January 22. If you enroll by January 1, 2023, your bowling will be free! Sign up for times slots from either 1-3pm or 3-5pm at z.umn.edu/lyonbowling
“Snowscapes” 4-H Photography Challenge
Minnesota 4-H Photography is excited to offer another statewide photography challenge open to youth in grades K-13.!
Select your best winter wonderland photo (with no or minimal editing) from the 2022-2023 4-H year and submit it with up to two (2) sentences that explain the photo! Submit one (1) jpg or jpeg image and up to two (2) sentences that explain the photo to fourhphoto@umn.edu by 11:59 p.m. (CST) on January 31, 2023. Volunteer 4-H photography judges will provide feedback via a slideshow. Top photos will be recognized with a prize and random prize drawing winners will also receive a gift.

January Federation Meeting
Mark your calendar for January’s Federation meeting! 1/17/2023 7pm. We will be kicking off our annual fruit and frozen food fundraiser at the meeting!
Livestock PDC Meeting
There will be a livestock PDC meeting on January 10 at 7 p.m. at the Extension Office. We will be discussing educational opportunities for 2023, animal ID updates, and showcase logistics. If you would like something discussed, please reach out to your livestock superintendent.
Beef Project Meeting
There will be a beef project meeting on Feb 5, 6:30pm at the Extension Office. We will be discussing a central weigh-in for market beef, educational opportunities, and any possible showcase changes.
Six Weeks Till Spring Independent Learning Kits
Concerned about finding activities during a rodent's possible extended winter forecast? Sign up for the six weeks till spring learning kits. Sign up to participate in some Groundhog Day-themed independent learning sessions. Each activity will include the primary supplies, instructions, and additional information to create for different projects/activities.

SWMN Animal Science Events
Do you take part in 4-H animal projects, or are you just curious about them? If so, the South West 4-H area has some great events planned for you. From the Junior Vet Camp to Down On the Farm for the cloverbuds, there are four excellent opportunities to get your hands dirty with animal-related projects. You will gain knowledge that may be used in your future employment, personal 4-H projects, project bowl or judging teams, and more. Visit z.umn.edu/SWwinteranscievents to find out more and sign up. Remember, after the event, Lyon County 4-H will reimburse you for half of your registration cost!
Cloverbud Connections RSVP for January and the Lyon Co. Cloverbud Conn. Schedule
Welcome to the exciting world of 4-H and Cloverbud Connections! Youth ages K-2 and their parents are encouraged to attend this event. Our Lyon Co. Cloverbud meetings happen once a month. For January, we will meet on Mon., Jan. 9, 2023 from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. at the Marshall-Lyon Public Library in the Children's Center. We will be exploring the 4-H project areas of Family and Consumer Science as well as Healthy Living!
Please RSVP by Fri., Jan. 6, 2023 by filling out one form per child participant.
Minimum of 8 participants to hold the event.

Ambassador Meeting for Jan. 17 at 5:45pm
There will be an ambassador (Grades 6-13) meeting on Jan. 17 at the Lyon Co. Ext. office. We will be discussing upcoming events and planning a service project for Feb. related to the State Ambassador’s Statewide Service Project. Please RSVP by Jan. 13. We will need at least 5 youth RSVP or it will be canceled.

Inspiring Confidence in Leaders and Students BLU is an engaging leadership workshop full of practical exercises designed to help you find and develop your inner leader. Middle schoolers and high schoolers are welcome to join BLU. Or are you interested in developing your potential as a leader? Discover your calling at TEEL (Teens Engaged in Emerging Leadership) in February! Take leadership lessons from more experienced 4-H members and recent graduates. The price is $65, however, the county of Lyon will pay for $50 of your registration fee after you complete a "bring it back" form.
