I recomend you to watch this documental of how the Ancient Greeks lived back then, and some things that I hope will persuade you to come and enjoy the beauties of Greece.
Demeter
Demeter is the nature goddess, and is ofen confused by Gaia and Rhea. She is a daughter of Kronos, sister of Zeus. She had a daughter named Persephone, and a little while later, was abducted by Hades. Demeter spend a bunch of time looking for her daughter all around the world. Finally Zeus sended Hermes to tell Hades to give Persephone back. Before she left, Hades gave her a pomegranate, and she ate it, obliging herself to stay a third of the year in the underworld with him. At times when Demeter is with Persephone, plants grow, its summer. When Persephone is at the underworld with Hades, winter was created, because there was no plant growth overall. And while she was lookig for her daughter, she came undercover as an old woman called Doso, and a man called Celeus offered her a place to stay. For his hospitality, she was giving his son immortality by but one day Metanira interruped her ritual, so Demophon couldnt become immortal. She did the same on Triptolemus, and he became a minor god of farming, and in return he taught others his special skills. Some people say Triptolemus and Demophon were the same person. We are not sure.
Aphrodite
Aphrodite is the goddess of beauty, love and sexual rapture. She was born from aphro, sea foam, and that is how she got her name. This goddess was wanted by many gods and mortals, so Zeus was worried that many will fight for her hnd in marriage, so he decided to marry her to Hephaestus. Hephaestus made Aphrodite many jewels and once made her a girdle with magic. Thats wasnt wise for him to do, since she was irresistible already, and now more. Aphrodite wasnt happy to be married to Heaphaestus, and she had many children with other people. Some were called Eros, Anteros, Hymenaios, Aeneas, and more. Her sacred animals are the dove, swan, dolphin, lime tree, and the pomegranate.
Athena
Athena is the goddess of wisdom and battle strategies. She was born from the forehead of Zeus, a child of Kronos and a part of The Big Three . She never had a mother because she sprang to life in war. Zeus was fighting and was in need for help, and Athena burst out of his forehead, in full battle armor and ready to fight. She is known for her battle strategies, and how probably they saved Zeus and maybe all the gods. Her sacred animal is an owl, which represents wisdom. She is one of the Twelve Olympians, along with her brothers and sisters, and her dad.
