Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
If you pick up or drop off your child, please, remember to NOT park your car in front of the school! The line needs to keep moving to efficiently get kids in and out of school in a timely manner. If for some reason, you need to leave your car, please use the available parking spaces. Additionally, when students are being dropped off in the morning, please use the entire length of the drop off zone (even past the cross walk) to keep the line moving. Thank you for you assistance in keeping these busy times running smoothly!
To ensure the safety of our students, parents and older students are not permitted in the bus parking lot during dismissal. If for some reason your child should not be on the bus, please go to the front office. We can not dismiss students off of buses to parents or relatives.
Classes will hold their Halloween parties on Friday, Oct. 30 at 2:45 pm. The students will have a parade in the school starting at 2:15 pm. Costumes can be worn but must be appropriate, no bloody and gory costumes or weapons will be permitted. If the staff deems a costume not appropriate it will not be worn during the parade or party. Parent volunteers that have been arranged with the the classroom teacher, only, are permitted for the parade and party.
D.A.R.E. Movie Night
D.A.R.E. Movie Night is scheduled for Wednesday October 28th from 5:30-9:00pm in the Elementary Commons. This event is open to 5th graders only. Please see the flyer for more information.
Otsego Local Schools Family Night
Otsego Schools would like to announce our 1st ever “family night” on Monday, November 9th. The goal of Family Night is to encourage families to take the evening to focus on each other and spend time together as a family in whatever way works for your family. There will be NO homework, assignments or tests the next day. There will also be NO athletic practices or any other extra-curricular activities on family night. We hope you can take advantage of this night and celebrate being a family!
Spending time with your family is a great investment, an investment that doesn’t take a lot of money. It just takes time and commitment. Our lives are all extremely busy and fast paced. We all need reminded from time to time how important spending quality time with your family is. Research shows that the benefits of family time on a regular basis can increase academic performance, decrease behavioral problems, decrease violence, and decreases the chances of drug abuse.
A few ideas to get you started thinking about your evening together.
Games: Play your favorite family board game or card game
Dinner: Plan a meal together and cook together
Memories: Look through old photos and family videos
Get Creative: Create an art project, crafts, or build something as a family
Get Fit: If the weather is nice, go for a long walk in a park as a family
We are also working with area businesses to offer discounts at local restaurants, movie theaters, and other family fun activities. We will provide more details on these locations later this month.
We will continue to provide information on Otsego Family Night, as we get closer to the day. If at all possible, please clear your calendar on November 9th and spend time with family!

Check out our new App!
Otsego Elementary School… There’s an app for that!
Otsego Local Schools in partnership with SchoolInfoApp announced today the launch of the Otsego Local Schools app by SchoolInfoApp which is now available for iPhones®, iPads®, Android™, Blackberry™ and Windows™ devices. The Otsego Local Schools app by SchoolInfoApp enables parents, students, alumni, faculty and staff to quickly access all of the who, what, when and where for Otsego Local Schools. Click on the links below or search OTSEGO LOCAL SCHOOLS within your device’s online store. There are basically 4 apps in 1. In the menu bar there is a button called My Schools. Click there to add all of the schools.
The Otsego Local Schools app by SchoolInfoApp is free and gives parents and students quick access to:
· Keep up with all of the latest news, information and announcements
· Find out about events and activities
· Contact teachers, staff and administration
· Access school menus, the online gradebook system and more
· Get important documents, picture galleries & other media
The Otsego Local Schools app by SchoolInfoApp also provides students with valuable tools, including:
· A TipLine to promote campus safety that allows students to anonymously report tips related to instances of bullying, academic integrity concerns or possible on-campus criminal activity
We will work to keep the app up to date and we will always be looking to make improvements.
SAVE ALUMINUM CAN TABS
Please help our students by collecting tabs from aluminum cans. Each tab is easy to remove and can be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. The tabs help fund various projects for Ronald McDonald Houses and its visitors. Send the tabs in a bag to the school and our students will do the rest!
SAVE BOX TOPS AND CAMPBELLS SOUP LABELS
You can help the school earn money for supplies by collecting Box Tops and Campbells labels from soup, juices and snacks. Our PTO collects and counts them and puts the money straight back into the school.
