Verse of the Week-Matthew 9:9 by Lane

Matthew 9:9

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

I think this is a good example of not judging people by what they do or how they look. Matthew the disciple was a tax collector that everybody hated. Jesus thought differently. He didn't judge Matthew by what he did. He looked on the inside of Matthew. I think we can all admit to judging people by their outside appearances. We all want to be better people and be more godly but God doesn't judge people by what they do or look like so we shouldn't judge people either. The goal on Earth is to spread the word but if we are just going to judge people then we are making God look bad and we don't want to do that. God wants us to spread the word and be godly but we can't do that if we judge people.

8th Grade Chapel

Matix M. is an 8th grade graduate. He has attended NHCS since preschool. His favorite memory from NHCS is when we had to use the storm shelter during last years graduation. He will miss the bible curriculum next year at CHS. His is looking forward to a bigger school. His favorite verse is Philippian's 4:13. His advice to younger students is if you are about to do something, ask yourself if Jesus would do that? If the answer is no, don't do it.
