Instructional News You Can Use
Over the last several months and most recently, it has been good seeing evidence of student learning in classrooms connected to...
- Anchor Charts
- Models of Teacher Guided Work
- Scaffolds to support student thinking
These are great strategies that pay huge dividends toward student progress and I am confident they will lead to success on MCAP. Please continue to keep visuals of learning strategies posted and utilized for student engagement up until Friday, May 5th. Danielle and Megan will look through classrooms on May 6th to ensure testing environments are in compliance.
Keep in mind, the end of testing does not mean the year is over and learning stops. After testing, we should revert right back to posting and utilizing a plethora of anchor charts, models of teacher guided work, and scaffolds as visuals to continue supporting student learning.
Testing Calendar
Our MCAP Testing Calendar is set. Please make every effort possible to not be absent on testing days.
Keep in mind the most important key to success is connecting previous/current instruction and curriculum content with a balance of reminding students they have the skills and knowledge needed to be successful on MCAP.
Outside of the testing sessions, be sure to stick to our regular schedule in terms of how content is taught and routines are followed for consistency purposes even on testing days. I remain convinced that maintaining regular school routines eliminates barriers and test/stress anxiety for students and teachers so that taking the MCAP assessments becomes a natural blend within the instructional day.
