A Message from Mrs. Douthart
FFMS Digital Learning Pick Up/Return Items Plan
Hello Five Forks Families!
The 19-20 school year is in the books, and what a year it has been! I am so thankful for all of your support as we navigated the unprecedented waters of digital learning. You have helped us tremendously as we all worked hard to laser focus on teaching and learning! I am confident that our students will have a strong foundation once the next year rolls around!
Items Pick Up/Drop Off will be held TODAY, Wednesday, May 27th from 10 am - 3 pm.
- We will have a drive by pickup for those who were unable to come up to the school this past week to collect your child's belongings and drop off school-owned items (library books, school owned instruments, Chromebooks, school calculators, and more!). We will also have a "Lost and Found" section for you to look through as well. Here is how we will run our operation:
- You will retrieve your own items during the 10am - 3pm time as the majority of staff members are gone for the summer.
- You will need to park your car, wear a mask, and practice social distancing while you retrieve/return items.
- We will have all bags under the front portico spread out by grade level and labeled with the student's name.
- Blue bags--6th grade
- Green bags--7th grade
- Pink bags--8th grade (Remember--all 8th graders have a very cool gift from FFMS and PTA--you will not want to miss out on it!)
- The LOST AND FOUND will be on racks and tables for you to look through.
- Art work currently on display in our front cabinet will be available for pick up as well. We will have it on a table out front.
- Medications that have not been picked up will be housed in the clinic or disposed of per GCPS guidelines.
- There will be a staff member stationed outside to assist you with returning any items that belong to the school.
YEARBOOK UPDATE: We have just a few yearbooks left, and sales have been extended until Friday, May 29th! Order now on MyPaymentsPlus before we sell out! The good news is that the yearbook production plant is back up and running! As soon as we know the date for yearbook pickup, we will share that information on Bucky Connects and School Messenger. Any yearbook questions should be directed to Michael.R.Williams@gcpsk12.org
REPORT CARDS: Report cards will be mailed this week. In your envelopes you will find your child's report card and a summer school letter. The gold letter is for those students who are strongly recommended to attend summer school if we have it. If your child got a purple letter, it means that there were some struggles noted and your child has been identified for "optional" summer school. Finally, every other child in GCPS will get a blue letter for summer school. If you feel that your child had significant struggles, you would be able to request summer school only if there is enough space available. Again, all students will have some type of summer school correspondence, and again, the decision to hold summer school has not yet been made.
I hope you have a marvelous summer!
