Rowland High School
Raider Review - November 14-18
Message from Principal Brunyer
This school year we have implemented Student Support Time on Wednesdays for the last 25-minutes of each class. The purpose of this time is to provide additional support for students who struggle to master essential grade-level standards. While we have seen great results, we are still learning, gathering best practices, and implementing this new intervention time. We are committed to provide high-quality education and see our students succeed and achieve their goals.

Rowland Raider Regiment Accolades
The Rowland Raider Regiment took home 1st place in division 2A at the Western Band Association's Southern California Super Show at El Camino Real College on Saturday, October 29th. Not only did they win best overall in their division, but they also out-scored many bands in higher divisions. The Rowland Raider Regiment has been undefeated in competition so far this season and will be heading into their regional championships as the number 1 seed in Southern California in their division.
24-Hour Animation Competition
This year, Rowland High School participated in the annual animation competition hosted by Cal State Long Beach. RHS has been part of this competition for three years and was able to carry the tradition of being part of this college-based animation competition during the 2022-2023 school year. Our students had the opportunity to compete against the top animation 30 high schools and 200 colleges worldwide.
The competition isn't only hosted by Cal State Long Beach but sponsored by Bento Box Animation, Toon Boom Animation, Walt Disney Animation, DreamWorks, Pixar, Asifa Hollywood, Wacom, and many more.
A total of 20 Rowland High School students competed in this year's event, with five students on each animation team. The teams in the top five will have an opportunity to win awards, scholarships, industry equipment, and more. This year our students competed on campus and worked through the night to complete a 30-second animated film.
The competition was on Friday, October 14th, 2022, and ended on Saturday, October 15th, 2022.
Our students started the competition at 3:00 p.m. and ended the contest at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The 24-hour animation competition exposed the students to insight into the animation industry, colleges, team-building skills, problem-solving, networking, and healthy competition.
Mr. Gomez said: "It was a pleasure working with our Rowland students and exposing them to this exciting opportunity."
