Tell Me Something Good
It's the most wonderful time of the year, and yet for many it's the most stressful time of year. As we're supporting students who don't know how to express their feelings and stress appropriately, I'm finding I need to play little mind games to keep my tank full of positive energy. I've been playing a little game with some of the leaders in the Braswell zone called "Tell me Something Good!" We are sharing at least 5-10 good things we're seeing each day on our campuses. So I thought you should know about the good things I saw just this week! I encourage you to try this game. It sure helps to make this most wonderful time of year truly wonderful!
1. 3rd grade students were sharing how excited they are about reaching their IM goals.
2. 3rd and 4th grade students shared that they exceeded their I-Station ISIP goal they set from last month to this month. One student exclaimed he beat his goal by 4 points.
3. 2 fourth grade students helped one another work through a difficult situation by talking about their top 3 strengths and how they could understand one another's strengths to see one another's perspective.
4. A parent shared they need a bigger home, but they're determined to stay within the PCE school zone because of the love, care, and learning environment they received with their 2 older children. They love learning and are excelling in middle school so they want that for their 2 children in our PPCD program too.
5, Teachers supporting teachers with difficult students.
6. Mary and Lisa supporting difficult students by listening to what they want/need. One student is working hard to control his behavior and to complete his work so he can earn an opportunity to go buy his mom, who just lost her job and who's dad is in prison, a gift from the holiday shop.
7. Dana spends all day every day providing rays of hope for our students who just don't know how to deal with the adult like situations they're facing. Worrying about having enough food, whether or not mom is going to come home from her 2nd job,
8. K/1 students catching the biggest bubbles in their mouths, standing up straight and tall with huge smiles on their faces while CHAMPing the hallways.
9. K-5 grade students telling what their learning targets are and how they're working hard to reach them.
10. Busy teachers smiling and working overtime to ensure each student is set up for success. Coming in early and staying late. Meeting with parents to partner with them in supporting their child's growth both behaviorally and academically.
11. Ms. Mills moving from one situation to the next all the while remaining calm and steady.
