Granville Academy K-5 & 6-8 Family Support/Outreach Groups
K-5 & 6-8 Granville Academy families:
There is are two Facebook groups that are set up for GA Pirates and families in grades K-5 & 6-8 (as parents and students) to come together and get to know each other better. The idea behind the pages is to have somewhere to go for support (help with assignments that may be confusing) or to plan a fun outing with the group ("Hey, anyone want to go to the park and have lunch this Friday?").
Please note the pages are set up to protect the privacy of students & families. Only GA Pirates are allowed to join. Please search for the groups on Facebook!
We are looking forward to getting to know our GA Pirates!
Poem by Madison Milligan
Death, a darkness that never leaves
Death, hides in your sleeves
The enemy that lights the dark path to the end
The enemy that no one can comprehend

Ode Poem 1 by Mary Taylor
Your first words were like a song
That sung a precious lullaby to my woken ears,
It woke me up in the night
Though it was not my job,
I treat you as if you are mines
Because in my eyes you are,
No wrong can be done by you
No wrong shall be done to you,
Love for a nephew is like love for your child
Unconditional and pure.
Your eyes are like the light bulb
That lights my room as i walk into it,
Looking into them hurts me,
I never wanna see the world hurt you
The way the world has hurt me,
The pain the world has to offer is unbearing
Monsters walk these streets,
Secrets haunt the halls of the city
The world is loaded with distrust,
So you must protect yourself from it’s pain.
I will not always be around to guide you
Nor show you right from wrongs,
Although I will always be an open ear to listen
A secret securer,
A shoulder to cry on
A teddy bear to hold,
Auntie’s love is pure
Can never be replaced nor denied,
Your eyes are forever innocent
Your smile is my sun.
My sister gave me the perfect gift
One that was never expected,
A star is what you are
Your such an entertainer,
A comedian at times
A actress at others,
A backup singer when needed
But a lover at most,
A heart of gold
A innocent mind.
When I look at you I see myself
The way you smell your food before you eat it,
The face you make before you cry
A spitting image of myself,
Your vibe is my vibe
Smooth as the ocean,
Sweeter than sugar
As bitter as salt,
When I look at you I see my myself
Your innocent in my eyes.

Weekly Message from the MS Teachers:
I have attached a copy of each grade's checklist, and it has also been posted to Google Classroom for students to view.
Students may stay after school on Mondays (Mary Potter) and Wednesdays (Tar River) until 3pm for tutoring. Some of you may have received a call on Friday about your student being required to stay for tutoring because of being behind on their work.
There is NO Science Olympiad practice this week, but there will be next week.
The end of the quarter is quickly approaching, which means grades will be due! If your student has any missing assignments, they MUST be completed by Sunday, October 27 at 11:59pm to be able to be graded and counted on this quarter's report card. Granville Academy does cumulative grading, which means all of your students work will average together all year long. Their report card each nine weeks will be a "snapshot" of where they are at that point in time. This also means that any work that is not completed will continue to reflect on their grade all year long. Their report card grades will also be used to determine whether or not a student is eligible for honor roll.
Please let us know if you have any questions!
