Message from the Principal
Hello Gator Families-
We have had a wonderful week at GES with our Literacy night and all the amazing learning happening in our building. Thank you to all the families who came for the event. From my view, I love watching our students grow in their skills while reading a book and making connections to self, to other texts and to the world. When you read with your children, ask them about the connections they are making or ask about the characteristics of the characters! We appreciate the wrap around support we are able to provide between home and school.
We are only two weeks away from our largest fundraiser of the year! The Gator Gallop is such a fun day and our PTO has done an amazing job of making a fun obstacle course for our students to go through this year. Please check the PTO newsletter for more information.
Parent teacher conferences will be happening after fall break. Please be on the lookout for a sign up from your child's teacher in the next few weeks. Parent conferences take place over a four week time period.
Next Friday, September 30 will be our first eLearning day! Students will have activities on Canvas to access for the day and teachers will be reviewing those with our students. Students will not attend school in the building. Teachers will be in training throughout the day and not available for questions. Students can ask questions when they return to school on Monday. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding on these days as they are very important for our staff to have continued professional development.
Thank you for sharing your children with us and have a wonderful week.
-Christi Thomas

Message from HSE Admin about Lunch Visitors
We know that many of our families have enjoyed the opportunity to eat lunch with their student(s). However, due to safety and space limitations in some of our schools, district administration has made the difficult decision to keep our student lunches closed to all outside guests at this time.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage you to look for other opportunities to engage with your student(s), their class, and our schools. There are many ways to get involved! If you have any questions or concerns, contact Jimmie Lake, Chief Operations Officer, at 317-594-4100 or jlake@hse.k12.in.us
Wrigley
Wrigley came to visit a few classes on Friday so that students could practice their reading skills!
Mrs. White's class
This kindergarten class learned about the benefits of therapy dogs, good citizen dogs and the many different types of certifications dogs can go through!
Thank you PTO
Our PTO continues to bless us with treats and goodies! We appreciate the continued support of our amazing staff! The Popcorn Bar was a great boost after a long day!

Have you checked your student's course fees and/or lunch balance?
Course fee statements were sent via email on Tuesday, Sept. 6th. You will find balances for both in your Skyward Family Access on the Course Fee and Food Services tabs. If you have paid but see a balance please note that it may take 7-10 business days to post to Skyward.
Fees may be paid with a check or exact cash in the office or by credit/debit card through eFunds. How to use eFunds: Please note, eFunds and Skyward are not connected. You will need to obtain the total amount due in Skyward and then log into eFunds. From the main menu in eFunds you will need to choose "Pay Optional Fees" and enter the amount that you are paying.
