Cowboy Parent Courier

January 7, 2020

We are happy to welcome our Cowboys back today! Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful break. We are ready to make 2020 our best year yet!

Each January, we celebrate School Board Appreciation Month. McKinney ISD is joining other districts across the state to honor local leaders for their dedication and willingness to serve as advocates for public schools. The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees is comprised of members who are elected by the general public to serve for overlapping terms of four years each. MISD Board Members are:

MISD Board of Trustees

Curtis Rippee, President

Stephanie O’Dell, Vice President

Maria McKinzie, Secretary

Kathi Livezey

Amy Dankel

Lynn Sperry

CMS appreciates their dedication and unwavering support of our MISD community.

Our staff also wants to appreciate our PTO and generous parents for the staff holiday luncheon before the winter break. Your generosity provided a gift card for every staff member and our PTO provided a wonderful catered lunch. Thank you!

Finally, the Spring semester is our time to begin planning for the following year. Watch the newsletter for upcoming course selection meetings and events. Parents of 8th graders are encouraged to watch the high school websites for information as well. We pass along information that is provided to us, but the high school websites are the best place to find the most current information.

Thank you!

Snack Shack

Students LOVE the snack shack, and I love that our PTO is committed to opening it each week. Our SNACK SHACK is always in need of volunteers. It is a fast and fun way to be involved. Thanks for all the support.

Lunch for Students

Due to a variety of safety concerns related to food allergies and campus safety and security, McKinney ISD does not allow students to utilize food delivery services at school. This includes services such as Uber Eats, Doordash and direct restaurant delivery. However, parents/guardians will still be permitted to drop food off for their children.

This rule does not apply to deliveries organized by McKinney ISD faculty or a teacher serving as a sponsor of a student organization. We appreciate your cooperation in our efforts to create a safe and secure environment for students.

Parents may only deliver food for your own child. We can't accept group deliveries.

Want to Volunteer?

If you would like to volunteer at CMS, please complete the Volunteer Background Check. If you have been approved in the past, you have until September to update your application for the new school year. You must complete a new form each year. Please note that if you do not complete the proper paperwork, you cannot help chaperone field trips or help with the school in any way. We need and want your help, so please fill out the forms now.
