Help Out with Explore More Day 2021!
As some of you may know, we received new guidance from the district that prevents us from having parent volunteers on site for Explore More Day. As we pivot to plan the event within these new guidelines, we'll need your help! Please sign up on the Google Doc if you're still able to help.
There is interest from VA teachers and parents in including VA students in Explore More Day, but we are waiting for more details from the district on how that might work.
Please reach out to Madison PTA President Beth Tatro with any questions.
Last Call to Order Yearbooks
Attention Virtual Academy students - VA will not have its own yearbook, but VA students will be included in the Madison Paw Prints, so make sure to order before the deadline. VA will be putting together a memory book that will be shared with students.
Order your yearbook today through Tree Ring. Questions? Contact Megan Savitt.
Madison Math Club
Math Club students have been meeting since March and have enjoyed learning about symmetry, using a Mira, creating line designs and exploring probability. They will continue to meet for 3 more weeks and will enjoy games of strategy and Rubik’s cubes. The clubs now meet from 8:45 - 9:35. Third graders will meet Tuesdays - April 27, May 4 and May 11. Fourth and fifth graders will meet Thursdays - April 29, May 6 and May 13. Questions? Reach out to Christina Hull, Madison’s PACE teacher.
Madison Cares April Highlight: Local Food Pantries
Did you know that 1 in 6 kids in America goes to bed hungry each night? You can help those in need in our own community to have enough to eat every day.
Ways to help:
- Collect non-perishable food items yourself to donate to a local pantry
- Create a fundraiser to raise money to donate to a pantry! Money donated can go farther than private food purchases, because local pantries can buy in bulk to provide more food and healthier food for those in need.
- Organize a food donation drive in your neighborhood! Pass out flyers with a date a time to have non-perishable items in bags outside of front doors. Coordinate with a local pantry, and drop off the donation bags curbside.
Reach out to one of these local Food Pantries to get started!
- Milton Township Food Pantry – 1492 Main St, Wheaton 630-668-1616
- Neighborhood Food Pantries – 580 Kuhn Rd, Carol Stream 630-375-7185
- Glen Ellyn Food Pantry – 493 Forest Ave, Glen Ellyn 630-469-8668
- People’s Resource Center Food Bank – 201 S. Naperville Rd. 630-469-8668
You can also help District 200 families in need through the Student Excellence Foundation Essential Needs Fund. Since March 2020, it has provided food, cold weather gear and learning resources for 12,075 families in our area.
April 26-30 is Giving DuPage Days, an online fundraiser that aims to raise at least $300,000 for more than 100 organizations in DuPage County, including many of the ones listed above.
