The 2022 English Language Arts Textbook Caravan provides teachers, curriculum specialists, & textbook committee members an opportunity to listen to formal, scheduled textbook presentations from the publishing representatives in order to assist them in purchasing the best resources for their district. Textbook caravans are scheduled in each inservice region (Birmingham & Montevallo conduct a joint caravan). Districts are encouraged to send a representative team to both the elementary (K-6) & secondary (6-12) textbook caravans in their inservice region. The best district team members are active participants in the day, bringing to the caravan a knowledgeable focus of their districtās needs, an earlier examination of textbook samples, and the willingness to analyze the information provided and communicate it with their team members. District teams will be provided a schedule to follow which gives them equitable access to presentations from each state-adopted comprehensive resource. In addition, publishing representatives from state-adopted supplemental resources will be available with exhibitions of their resources. As a part of the schedule, district teams will be provided a collaborative period during the day in which they can match notes and discuss which resources best meet their districtās needs as well as visit with supplemental providers. In order to maximize the day for participants, lunch will be provided at no cost to the participants.

Happy New Year!
I hope you are well and had a wonderful break. I have been in training for Monday.com which will be the new format for submitting your lesson requests. I have included the link for you below. The format is pretty much the same as the google doc you were using before. If you have any questions or problems with it, please let me know. ** If you have already entered requests in Google, I am currently in the proces of transferring those over to Monday.com for you, so do not worry about reentering them-- ***Please note, the google doc has been turned off. As a reminder, you will receive an email notification when the kits are ready to be delivered and when they will be ready for pickup so you can plan accordingly. As an additonal note, you will keep the kit for 2 weeks. Also, there is a still a place for you to add any additional requests.
Several of you have requested information about the Science Foundations training. I have included the link below for trainings that will be held at UAH. If you are new and haven't gone through training yet, you need to do so in order to request kits. Anyone can sign up for the training, regardless of if you are a new teacher or you simply just want to go through the professional learning training. As a note, I will post any professional development opportunities on both my Facebook and Twitter pages.
I appreciate all of you that completed the information request form I sent out. It has helped me to see who all is on the TEAMS contract, what training is needed, and what help is needed. As specialists, we all want to be able to spend more time coaching and working with you as teachers, so please let me know times that I can do this.
As a former teacher myself, I know how much is placed on you and anything I can do to help is my desire. I also know that time is precious and valuable so I want to make the best of it for you.
Kit preparation and deliveries will be taking place soon. Please be on the lookout for follow up emails from me regarding specifics on kit deliveries, our new delivery schedule and more. Also, if you have new personnel or know of anyone interested in ASIM (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) training/assistance, please let us know.

NEW! AAMU/UAH RIC's National Board Deeper Dive Microsessions-- in addition to course offerings listed above!
AAMU/UAH RIC's "NB Deeper Dive Microsessions" were designed to give candidates an opportunity to dive a little deeper into each of the individual components. This deep dive session can happen in the form of structured small group discussions, Q&A sessions, delving into the Bobbie Faulkner NB companion books, and so much more.
We know that most of your āburning questionsā and wonderings typically arise after youāve had a chance to process the content that was shared in the whole group course offerings sessions, thatās why we designed these āNB Deeper Dive Microsessionsā to provide candidates with additional support between each of the āNB Candidate Course Offeringsā sessions-- as listed above. Now you have the power to connect beyond the norm and receive deeper levels of support from some of the most highly qualified Candidate Support Providers (CSPs)/Mentors across our state.
Click here to view our 2021-2022 Deeper Dive Microsessions
*Sessions are hosted in either a face-to-face (f2f), remote (e.g. Zoom or Google Meet) or hyflex (session will take place f2f, but will also be live-streamed) instructional delivery model.
Check out our center's NBCT Resources! #NBCT4ALL
The AAMU/UAH Regional Inservice Center offers mentoring support for #ALRegion3 educators. Our mentors āwalk alongsideā candidates to support them ā through the certification process, often starting before the teacher actually applies for certification. Candidate support providers ask questions that help a candidate show evidence more clearly, are sensitive to a candidateās emotional needs, help candidates create organizational systems to manage the process, locate resources to help with technology demands, and provide models of feedback that broaden and deepen the candidateās own analytical abilitiesā.
Let the AAMU/UAH Inservice Center mentor you through the National Board process. You should not have to attempt it alone!
