April 8th is recognized as “National Zoo Lovers Day." Zoos bring education and entertainment to the public by allowing visitors to browse and learn about many kinds of animals that they do not see in their everyday environment, in a recreation of that animals’ natural habitat. Zoos also help to conserve the animal population in order to prevent them from going extinct.
At its core, zoos are a great area to conduct scientific research to learn about animals, as well as their habitats and behavior. The closest zoo to northern New Jersey is the Bronx Zoo.
Learn about all kinds of animals by reading books about some animals you are guaranteed to find at your local zoo. Below are highlighted books that you can check out at the CMC and suggest to WP students and fellow educators.
