Newsletter Term 2 Week 7
St Patrick's School Masterton 14th June 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
What does the Trinity do for us? We know that God the Father made everything and we are intended to go back to Him. The Holy Spirit guides us towards Him, and Jesus is the way. Every time you make the Sign of the Cross you are praying to the Trinity. Taken from - Kidsbulletin.com
A reminder for all whanau to please book a slot for our parent/ teacher hui which are to be held on Tuesday 28th June & Wednesday 6th July from 1.30 - 6.30pm on each day.
As we move towards the mid-point of the year we have decided to hold these for all children and their whanau. Due to recent Covid restrictions this has been something we have not been able to do as often as we would have liked, so we felt this is a great opportunity to start this up again.
Bookings can be made for hui in week 9 & 10 of this term. These will take place on Tuesday 28th June and Thursday 6th July, running from 1.30pm to 6.30pm on both days. On this the normal school timetable will not be running in the afternoon so if you are able we would appreciate you collecting your child at 1.00pm. If you are not able we will be providing supervision, here at school, for your child to be looked after until the normal finishing time of 3pm.
To make a booking, please go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code and enter the code 2N6RG

Gospel of the Week
John 16:12-15
12 “I have much more to tell you, but now it would be too much for you to bear. 13 When, however, the Spirit comes, who reveals the truth about God, he will lead you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own authority, but he will speak of what he hears and will tell you of things to come. 14 He will give me glory, because he will take what I say and tell it to you. 15 All that my Father has is mine; that is why I said that the Spirit will take what I give him and tell it to you.
Virtue of the Month: Gentleness - Humarie

Let your gentleness be evident to all The Lord is near - Philippians 4:5
Term 2 School Theme
- Principle: ‘Participation’
- Enduring Understanding: We all have a responsibility to learn from the past to shape our present & future
- Whakatauki: Titiro whakamuri, kokiri whakamua - Look back and reflect so you can move forward
Further detail for parents/ caregivers - People have a right and a duty to participate in society, seeking together the well being of all, especially the poor and vulnerable. Everyone has the right not to be shut out from participating in those institutions necessary for human fulfilment, such as work, education, and political participation.
A reminder to all families and whanau - please do not drive up the school driveway unless it is an emergency. It is a health and safety risk and there have been a couple of near misses with children recently.
Matariki Celebration- 7:00 am 23rd June
Please bring your family and come and join us with our annual Matariki celebration outside hub 5 and to follow a yummy breakfast. This is an amazing experience that the students all talk about long after they have left our school.
All Kildare students need to be at school by 6:45am at the latest in school uniform and some extra warm clothing eg jackets, gloves, hat.
The students will stay on at school after the early celebration to begin their day.
All students and whanau are welcome to attend.
Gastro Bugs
Most people with gastroenteritis recover within a few days without needing medical treatment, as long as they don’t become dehydrated. To prevent dehydration, drink plenty of water and other fluids. Clear fluids, such as water and diluted cordials are best. Ice blocks are a good way of getting fluids into children.
Some people with severe gastroenteritis caused by bacteria may be given antibiotics. Only the symptoms can be treated with viral gastroenteritis.
If you are concerned, call Healthline on 0800 611 116 or see your doctor or practice nurse.
Keep children with gastroenteritis out of day care and school until at least 48 hours after their symptoms have gone. Adults should stay away from work for 48 hours after their symptoms have gone.
To reduce the risk of spreading acute gastroenteritis, wash and dry your hands thoroughly, especially before eating or preparing food, and after going to the toilet, changing nappies, or after contact with an infected person.
SchooI Board Parent Election 2022

Our school will be undertaking a parent election for 5 School Board vacancies. This process will start with the issuing of nomination papers to our caregiver community by Friday 15th July 2022.
We have employed CES to undertake the election process on our behalf. This year with legislative change, our nomination form and full instruction on how to place your nomination into our own School’s Election website will be emailed to you if we have your email address in our database or you will receive it by post if we don’t have your email in our database.
Nomination papers will also be available at the school office. The school will send those on to CES for processing upon receipt from candidates.
Nominations close on Wednesday 3rd August at 12 noon. Election day is Wednesday 7th September.
We look forward to your participation in this process.

Winter is the season for planting trees
Growing, planting and caring for trees is a relationship that requires patience, care and commitment, with many rewards along the way. We can guide ākonga to connect with and care for trees by choosing a starting point related to the seasons: collecting seeds, growing seedlings, planting, caring and eventually experiencing the flowers, fruit, shade, branches to climb and other benefits they provide us.
Check out the pictures of some of our tamariki having fun and learning in our native bush area!
Last year the school moved to using ‘SchoolDocs’ to create a website for our school policies and procedures. As part of this process, throughout each year, as we review our policies we will ask for feedback from staff, board and parent communities.
