A Letter from Principal Montalvo
Dear Caldwell Heights Families,
This week was a short week. However, we fit a lot of learning in during the 4 days! We have been conducting our middle of the year reading and math screeners to measure the growth our students are showing. We have a lot to celebrate! Parents continue to encourage your children to complete homework and spend some time reading at home.
Here are the directions to set up your Home Access Account (HAC) so that you can see your student's progress and/or report cards for students in grades 3-5.
Finally, many of you may have heard that breakfast and lunch are no longer free to all students. We have gone back to having families apply to qualify for free or reduced lunch. Here are a few points that you should know:
- If a family applied and were approved last school year for free or reduced meals, they are still approved. They will need to reapply before Oct. 4th.
- Students will be charged for meals if they have never been approved for free or reduced meals up to $10. Students will keep their selected meal once they reach the $10 limit.
- Students will not go hungry.
- Students may get 2 condiments with their meal. After the 2, they will need to pay $0.10 per additional condiment.
Apply for Free or Reduced School Meals
Please make sure to fill out a lunch application. This application will determine our school's staffing, resources, and materials available to your children. We would like to ensure that your children are able to receive what they need to continue to be successful in school. Thank you in advance for supporting Caldwell Heights by filling out the application.
Please feel free to reach out, if you have questions or concerns.
Warm Regards,
Michelle Montalvo

Library Digital Resources
Did you know that your family has access to thousands of dollars worth of eBooks, magazine articles, encyclopedias, and other research resources for all ages PK-5th grade from home? Resources are available in English and Spanish. All you need to access these resources is a device with internet access and our Caldwell Heights passwords! The Caldwell Heights Library Research Resources page lists everything that is available, including PebbleGo, CultureGrams, World Book Encyclopedia, and much more. A link to the usernames and passwords for these resources is listed below. You must be logged into your child's RRISD Google account to access the passwords. These are great resources to use for research, science fair projects, and even just reading for pleasure from home.
