Monday Memo
HGECC 8-27-18
Great things!
I observed more and more routines being practiced and rules/expectations being reviewed. I know that the time you all spend doing this up front will pay off in the long run. We continue to enroll new students, and I know that can sometimes be challenging when new students are added after the first day. You are all taking it in stride and the students slide into your classrooms seamlessly; it's like they have always been a part of your family. Students and staff have made every new student feel at home as they joined our family. Keep focusing on that relationship and connection building too! We all know how important it is for a child to feel connected-let's make it happen.
Challenge: pick one child that might already be exhibiting some behaviors that are a challenge to you and the classroom routine-and really focus on connecting through playfulness, eye contact, touch, and presence. What skill is he or she missing that you might be able to teach?
Hands on building fun!

Nuts-n-Bolts:
* Don't forget your emergency folders for our first fire drill
* Certified staff: don't forget to sign up for the sessions you want to attend at C&I day
* Hopefully bus/car rider changes will look a little more "normal" this week as we will have a lot of them go into effect Monday. This should ease some of the confusion on drop offs and pick ups. Thank you for being patient as we work through enrollments and bus requests
Maybe a train conductor?
Making our bunny
Learning where the office is and who works there.
Home Visits:
* If you need help calling and scheduling Spanish visits, please get with me so that we can get this taken care of
* If you have already scheduled Spanish speaking visits that will require a translator (i.e. parents possibly signed up for a time on Back to School Night)-please get me your schedule ASAP, so that I can contact Alice Wolf and/or any additional translators through Sheryl Malloy.
*Home visits are an excellent time to teach an I love you ritual to the parent/child, set them up with your website link, and share our evening events and parent committee opportunities with them.
