Restorative Practices (Part 1)

Just like any healthy family, school, or community, Wildwood has a plan and process for restoring relationships when harm has been done. Just as students need coaching when they encounter academic challenges, they also need guidance for managing social difficulties when they arise.

Next week, I will describe our 4-step Restorative Practices plan in detail, but for now, I would like to share with you the programs and measures we have in place to prevent problems before they occur. You've likely heard the axiom, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Here at Wildwood, we find this to be true, and we are proud to highlight the proactive measures that are in place at our school which help keep physical and relational harm at a minimum on our campus:

  • PTA Sponsored Events and Assemblies that Build Community
  • A Proactive and Responsive Office Team
  • Tremendous Teachers
  • A Caring and Skilled Campus Supervision Team
  • Parent Volunteers
  • Engaging Lessons
  • Unity Day (Oct.)
  • Inclusive Schools Week (Dec.)
  • Kindness Week (Feb.)
  • SEL Lessons
  • Counseling / Coaching
  • Morning Greeters
  • Pep Rallies
  • Staff Training
  • Tigerific Tickets
  • ROAR Core Values
  • Strong School-Home-Student Communication
  • A Community Committed to Care

That's quite a list! We appreciate EVERY member of our our school community who contributes to the amazing culture of care that pervades our campus.

Warmly,

Mr. Lynch

Shoe Tying Recognition

During the next few weeks, the principal will be out at many recesses handing out small prizes to TK-2nd grade students who demonstrate their ability to tie their shoes. Since success is a series of small victories, please be practicing with your young Tigers so they can claim this victory and win a prize.

Phone Call Protocols for Students

For safety reasons, students may ONLY call home from the front office phone or health office phone. Students with cell phones MUST have them turned off and kept in a backpack at all times during the school day. Students with watches that have text or phone capabilities may not communicate with them during the school day. Students who violate these standards of conduct will lose the privilege of bringing these devices on campus.

Lost & Found

If your child lost a clothing item (LOTS of jackets), lunch bag, or water bottle on campus, it's likely we have found it. Our Lost & Found cart is usually stored in the MPR, and we will begin placing it out front on the last day of every school week for you to sift through. At the end of the month, all remaining items will be donated to a local charity.

School Spirit Day - Feb.24

Our next school spirit day is February 24. The theme will be "Crazy Day", so start planning that crazy hair, crazy socks, crazy hats...CrAzY EvEryThiNg!

Talent Show Update

Our annual Wildwood Talent Show will take place on March 10 at 6:30pm.
