Mrs. Salemi's Classroom News!
March 2021
Virtual Field Trip
Book Creator
Our technology coach, Mr. Tombs, joined our classroom this month to show us a fun new tech tool to publish our work. Book Creator brings creativity into the classroom by letting students create read, and publish. This digital book tool is what we will be using to publish our chapter books on the American Revolution. I look forward to seeing their published pieces very soon!
Theme of the Month-Be Adventurous!
Important Reminders-Blended Learning
- School starts at 8:15 am each morning. This is the same time regardless if students are in-person or remote. Please make sure your child comes to school on time or is logged in at home.
- Please note that in-person students must report to school buildings each morning. In order to be marked present, students enrolled in the hybrid program must be physically in attendance at school every day. The only exception to this is when students have been approved for temporary remote learning.
- Students may not shift between in-person and remote learning unless it has been formally approved by the school office.
February Enrichment
Here is what we have been learning about last month!
Reading & Writing:
- Students have been working hard reading nonfiction texts related to the American Revolution. Both primary and secondary sources were used to help students write their chapter books on their sub-topics of the Revolutionary War. Students will publish their chapter books using Book Creator and be presenting them this week!
Math:
- We are finishing up Module 5 which focuses on fractions. The end module test will include fraction equivalence, ordering, and how to use the different operations with fractions and mixed numbers.
- We will be moving on to Module 6 next which focuses on decimals.
- Need help getting a better understanding of math? Check out my website or here for more support!
Science/Social Studies:
- We have been learning about energy; specifically wavelength and amplitude, light reflection, and more!
SELS (Social Emotional Learning Standards):
- We have discussed how students can have similarities and differences amongst each other; yet can still get along. Having empathy for one another will lead to fulfilled friendships.
