BrightBytes Survey

All D64 3rd-5th grade students will complete the BrightBytes survey TODAY (Monday, June 1). The survey will remain accessible until 3pm on Friday, June 5.

Students should only take this survey once.

Here are the directions for administering the BrightBytes survey to your students:

Step 1: The best time to administer the questionnaire is at the beginning of the class period, but feel free to give it at any time that is convenient for you.

Step 2: Direct students to this URL: www.BByt.es/XE4UL

Step 3: Have students take the questionnaire, which should take 10-20 minutes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you again for your cooperation in administering this survey to our students.

**Teachers will complete the survey at the beginning of this week's building meeting. Please bring your laptops!

End-of-the-Year Fun!

If you're looking for a fun way for students to reflect on the past school year, check out these tech-inspired ideas:

  • create a comic strip about favorite memories on Comic Life (iPad app) or Make Beliefs Comix
  • make an interactive timeline highlighting events that occurred throughout the year on HSTRY
  • create a video slideshow with favorite memories and pictures on Animoto
  • write a postcard on Lifecards (iPad app) for students who will enter that grade next year
  • use Google Drawing to make a picture collage of this year's best moments
  • make a Google Slides presentation that highlights topics learned throughout the year
  • have students use the built-in laptop or iPad cameras to record themselves sharing their favorite memories from the past year

If you'd like to learn more about any of these activities, please contact me!

Chromebook Collection Process

All student Chromebooks will be collected and stored for the summer, then redistributed for the 2015-16 school year. Devices and accessories must be permanently returned to school, no later than next Monday, June 8, to allow for inspection and paperwork to be completed before students leave for summer break. Please use this checklist as students begin to return their Chromebooks and accessories.

Pat and/or I will be coming to your classrooms next Wednesday, June 10 to begin the storage process. 3-5 teachers, if you haven't yet done so, please sign up for a 30 minute time slot when we can come in and collect your students’ Chromebooks, power cords, and cases.

**NEW INFO: Our expectation is that devices will have normal wear-and-tear on the plastic surface (small, “cosmetic” blemishes). If there is damage to the Chromebook, the student will be charged an incident fee of $20. In cases where the damage exceeds half the cost of the Chromebook ($140), full replacement cost of $285 will be charged. Accessories will be replaced at full cost value of the item. Letters regarding charges will be sent home by Friday, June 12.

Please contact us with any questions you may have!
