February Fun!

The weather may have been rather frightful this month but our time at Goodness Grows has been delightful! As you can see in the pictures below, we have found many ways to stay busy, be creative, learn new things, celebrate, and have fun. If you stop by, make sure you take a peak into the Café to see all of the crafts we have made and hung up to beat those winter blues.

Teamwork & Building Projects

We work on plenty of skills here at GG. Following directions. Planning. Working with others. Communicating. Safe use of tools. The list goes on! Over this last month, our clients have worked on several building projects that have given them practice on all those skills and more. They were very proud of their teamwork and of the end results...and so were we! They built and decorated a birdhouse, put together a raised bed, and made a small raised flower bed. After building a bridge in January and then working on all these projects, they are getting a lot of experience turning old pieces of wood into new, useful objects.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

We don't think you're ever too old to play in the snow. As long as it isn't too cold, our crew likes to
get out into the great outdoors and enjoy winter adventures. February brought some fantastic snowman-building snow!

Paper Making With Seeds!

We spent some time this month sorting seeds. There are always some leftovers each year and we wanted to put them to good use. We put some out for the birds. We used some for mosaic art. We used others in a special paper making project. We learned about tearing up newspaper and colored paper, mixing it with water, pressing it out flat or squishing it into balls, and then letting it dry. Before pressing and squishing, we added a variety of seeds. Now we have seed paper and seed balls that can be planted in the spring and will, hopefully, bring us plants to enjoy.

Speaking of Seeds...

Planting and growing veggies, fruits, herbs, and flowers takes a lot of planning and organizing. Our seeds have been arriving. We made maps of our fields and gardens. Miss Rachel has her planting calendar filled out. We are ready for the growing season! Our first crop - (LEEKS) - has even been started! It was so exciting to sow our first seeds of the year!

From Seeds to Produce

Now is the time to be thinking about our Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA). If you would like to enjoy those leeks and many more fresh produce items, join our CSA. Check out the info below. Contact us with any questions. To sign up, we just need your name, email, phone number, and payment. You can take home fresh veggies, fruits, herbs, and flowers every week from June to September or choose the every other week option. Let us know if you are interested!
