The Sophomore Success - Team 2023
May 2021
I am too positive to be doubtful, too optimistic to be fearful and too determined to be defeated. - Hussein Nishah
It is hard to believe that we only have three weeks remaining before the school year comes to an end. We have persevered through the challenges of this school year. Our students have done an amazing job staying focus. Team 2023 can’t thank students, staff, and parents enough for the dedication to doing whatever is necessary to support our students—both at home and at school.
Mr. Dale Sharpe
Assistant Principal Team 2023
End of Year Calendar Update
As with first semester, there will be no final exams in May, except in dual-credit classes. This means that students’ semester grades will be averaged equally between their Q3 and Q4 grades, so it’s important that they work very hard to finish the year on a strong note. Teachers may be assigning final projects, and it’s probable that they will give end-of-unit tests to wrap up the grading period, so there is still much work to be done. Encourage your child to complete all homework, study for assessments, ask questions as needed, and continue to give 100% for the next 3 weeks.
Since Final Exams have been canceled, the end-of-year schedule has been modified to reflect this change. Wednesday, May, 26th and Thursday, May, 27th will both be FULL school days and students will have a normal 7-period day. There is no school for students on Friday, May, 28th as this is a teacher workday.
21st Century Scholars
Mrs. Mahan and Mrs. Frazer have met with in-person scholars to help them catch up on their required activities. For at-home learners or any student who missed the the meeting, information is posted to the 21st Century scholars group on Schoology.
In addition to the scholar track requirements, students must graduate with a 2.5 GPA or higher to earn the full scholarship to an in-state university.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your student’s counselor!
AP Examination Plan
“All BHS in person students who are enrolled in an AP course will take the paper and pencil exams during AP test administration 1, starting May 3 and ending on May 17 (as planned). All at home AP students will take their exams during AP exam administration 2, which runs from May 18 to May 28. At home students taking paper and pencil exams will complete their testing at BHS, while at home students taking digital exams will complete their exams at home. All exams will be given on the assigned day/time per the College Board AP testing schedule.”
