All of the speeches were amazing but the top winners were Vala Harrison (1st Place), Emily Fouraker (2nd Place), and Sarah Fouraker (3rd Place). Congratulations to all of the winners!

Callahan Intermediate School hosted the annual Tropciana Speech contest. There were 17 participants who were selected as first-place winners from each homeroom classroom. The following 5th-grade students were the school winners and will represent their school during the County-wide contest. Congratulations to Lorelai Bryan (1st Place), Ava Henderson (2nd Place), and Trevor Singley (3rd Place)! The 4th-grade students had winners as well. Congratulations to Skylar Thien (1st Place), Cameron Ginder (2nd Place), and Ava Faircloth (3rd Place)!

Spooky, Spectacular Science

At Yulee Middle School, 6th-grade students and teachers enjoyed a fun day of spectacular science activities. They discovered how elephant toothpaste works, saw and played with dry ice, and sliced pumpkins using rubber bands! All-State Musicians 🎶🎵

Emily Huggins, Victoria Maltagliati and Michael Awad, all clarinetists with the Fernandina Beach High School Symphonic Band, auditioned for the Florida All-State High School Band. Thousands of students across the state competed for the eighty spots between two bands. Emily and Michael were chosen for the 9th & 10th-grade band, and Victoria was chosen for the 11th & 12th-grade band. This is the first time since the early 1990's that FBHS has had a student selected for these premier bands. The musicians will travel to Tampa on January 8th for 2 days of intensive all-day rehearsals and will perform a concert on January 11th. Congratulations!

Robots and Communities

Owls, Bones, and Pellets

At Wildlight Elementary School, Mrs. Cressey intrigued her 2nd-grade students by dissecting owl pellets. The students compared the bones found in the pellets to their bone chart. They were able to identify the prey the owl ate and what part of the animal the bone was from. They loved it!

Playground Fun

Mrs. Graves' and Ms. Mathis' Kindergarten classes at Hilliard Elementary School had a blast playing on the freshly dumped playground sand. Who needs playground equipment when you have this magnificent white fluffy pile?

Giving to Others

Yulee Elementary's PTO Funds were used to donate Publix Thanksgiving Meals to 6 families in need. Mr. Cubbal and Mrs. Loudermilk hand-delivered to each house. Each family was grateful for the gift.

A Bryceville Christmas

Bryceville Elementary Students, Teachers, Parents, and Staff enjoyed their Country Christmas Literacy Night. Dinner was catered by Cousin Willie’s Smokehouse and offered to over 100 people that attended. The musical and Reader’s Theater program was directed by John Carr and performed by our Kindergarten through fifth-grade students. Everyone finished the night with Santa (AKA John Carr) taking pictures with students and his lovely assistant (AKA Melissa Carr) passing out our gifts of books to each student. Students were also able to do AR quizzing and ornament crafting for students.

A Hilliard Holiday

Second-graders from Hilliard Elementary School performed their annual holiday Christmas program for fellow students, family, and friends. The program was filled with favorite holiday songs and poems.

Students in Mrs. Shafer's Creative Writing classes, at Yulee Middle School, participated in a poster contest with the theme "Rhyme Scheme in Christmas Carols." The winning posters, seen here, were displayed in the office and in the 8th-grade hall. The students had a great time figuring out rhyme scheme and identifying the figurative language in their favorite carols, and made a festive atmosphere with their beautiful posters!

Southside Blessing

ChristWalk Church donated 40 Holiday baskets for our students in need. Baskets included laundry detergent, food for a complete Thanksgiving meal including a turkey donated by Down Under Restaurant, in a nice laundry basket. Our Southside Families were very thankful for this unexpected blessing.
