Chapman Staff Update
September 14, 2019
Thank you everyone for all of their hard work and dedication this week. We all survived Full Moon Friday the 13th! We are on a roll!!! I am so excited for this upcoming week and to dive into the school year with all of you even further. I love seeing the kids working on their PBIS expectations. We still need to work on voice levels in areas around the building, especially the cafeteria, but it is significantly better from last year. Be consistent and don't be afraid to have students continue to practice or "try again" if they are not following expectations- even if they are from another class. Everyone should have tickets now (or in your mailbox) and I will continue to have conversations with lunch staff so we are consistent throughout the day.
Indoor Recess: EEEEK! I don't want bad weather but we need to be prepared for it. Please make sure that you review indoor recess expectations AND have appropriate activities your class can participate in posted on the inside of your door. Remember you may not always have the same lunch monitor for indoor recess so we need the information in one spot. There may be times we can use the gymnasium but we will need to work our some procedures for that before we are able to do it.
Goals Meetings: Look for a Google Doc to come your way this week (maybe even tomorrow) to sign up for goal meetings. We will review the goal you submitted at the end of last year. Remember your goal needs to reflect an indicator on the rubric. I can help in writing the goal, but come to the meeting prepared with an idea and plan for collecting evidence.
Wednesday is picture day. Classes will be called down to the media center individually.
Talk like a Pirate Day is THIS Thursday! So fun! Information went out to parents this week as well.
PTO Meeting is THIS Tuesday at 6 PM. It is important that we have teacher participation at these meetings. They do a ton for us!
NWEA: Please do not wait till the last few days of the window to assess your students. With chrome books and i-Pads in the classrooms, we should be able to complete assessing easily with our students.
ASSESSMENT RESULTS: Results from all of our assessments should be recorded in Illuminate in a timely fashion after the assessment. We will use Illuminate to house all of our assessment data so we can access and compare it easily.
E-BLAST and NEWSLETTER: Each grade level and department will have a scheduled month to inform the community and district what they are doing in their classrooms for the district E-Blast. These E-blast items must be program/curriculum related and pictures should be included. This is your time to showcase your students to the community! The same idea applies to the newsletter. You are always welcome to send me items for the parent newsletters but I have created a schedule for everyone. Families love to see what their children are doing at school and love pictures. This way I will always have a grade level or activity to showcase in the building every week. Here is the link to the schedule:
