DCSD Social Media Guidelines for Students
Parents,
It is important that our scholars represent themselves in a positive manner online and think about what they post on social media outlets. One question to always think about is, "Would my post look good to college admissions counselors or employers?" Encourage your student to assume that someone is always observing their online actions.

Earning Parent Volunteer Hours
Parent involvement has been the key to the continued success of the students at Arabia Mountain High School. Each year Arabia Mountain High School parents/guardians must complete 10 hours of volunteer service hours each year to maintain enrollment at AMHS. Parents can volunteer at the school or school events to earn their volunteer hours or provide donations of $105.00 ($10.50 = 1 volunteer hour).
It is the responsibility of the coach/sponsor of the organization to provide the list of their parent volunteers and hours to Ms. Bills at the conclusion season or event. Parents need to be sure they are signing in at all events to ensure an accurate account of their volunteer hours. Please click the file below to see some of the ways you can earn your volunteer hours. We look forward to seeing you at AMHS!!!!

Principal Advisory Council (P.A.C.)
What is PAC?
The PAC is a group of the principal and elected members of the school, including 2 teachers and 4 parents. The PAC’s focus is the Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP) which involves initiatives for Science, Math, Attendance, and Graduation.
What Do We Do?
We meet once a month throughout the school year and discuss action items to support student achievement, current activities related to the school and district, and community engagement. We establish specific goals each year to work towards that allow us to stay focused and productive.
The members of the Principal Advisory Council are accountable to the constituents they serve. The purpose of the Principal Advisory Council is to bring parents, school employees, students, and community members together to create a better understanding of and mutual respect for each other’s perspectives and share ideas for increasing student achievement and performance.
1. Maintain a school-wide perspective on issues;
2. Act as a link between the school and the community;
3. Encourage the engagement of parents and other stakeholders within the school community; and
4. Work to increase student achievement and performance through transparent operations and shared best practices.
The Principal Advisory Council operates under the control and management of the DeKalb County School District and will follow Board of Education policies and procedures. The Principal Advisory Council provides advice and recommendations to the school principal, the local board of education, and the local school superintendent on matters related to school climate/culture, student achievement, and community partnerships.
All meetings are open to the public and some meetings are open for commentary. For more information on the PAC in general, visit the district’s website: www.dekalbschoolsga.org/principal-advisory-councils for more information.
