The Week Ahead in 3-215

November 30th

We Are The Authors!

On Wednesday, November 25th, we celebrated our hard work writing our personal narratives with a publishing party. Each student received his/her own copy of the class book, including each person's story. Students were asked to read classmates' stories and offer them written comments and feedback on their work. Students were wonderful about picking out descriptive lines, interesting leads, and sensory details. They asked each other questions about their work and celebrated each others' efforts! Cupcakes completed the festivities. We hope you enjoyed reading the stories we wrote.

SEM Barnes & Noble Night

On Wednesday, December 2nd, join SEM at Barnes & Noble in Massapequa on Sunrise Highway (near Babies R Us & TGI Friday's). From 5pm-8pm, any shopping you do will help our school raise funds for our Character Education program. I will be reading a story there after 5 and would love to see some familiar faces! If you aren't able to attend, stay tuned for more information on how you can shop online to support the cause. Hope to see you there!

December's Character Trait: Acceptance

This month, we will think about what it means to show acceptance and how accepting differences helps you to be a person of character.

Sidewalk Flowers

This week, we will be reading the wordless picture book Sidewalk Flowers, by JonArno Lawson. It is a beautiful book with many layers of meaning and students will surely have a lot to discuss as they look closely at the illustrations and think about the bigger meaning of the story. Check out the above link to see what inspired the author to write this story!
