Nuts & Bolts
Week of March 26, 2018
I love us!
I love how we all support each other both professionally and personally. I love how many people celebrated World Down Syndrome Day. I love how we all step up and cover for each other - like when we have abrupt personnel changes or people attending conferences. I love how we seek professional development and devote personal time and money toward this endeavor.
I love how our whole community comes together for fundraisers like the Gala. The Gala was beautiful and an excellent display of the power of our community. Thank you to all of those who attended, those who made art, and those who carved out time during their classes for students to make art. I noticed that many (if not most) of the parents attending the Gala were the parents of our most challenging students. I'm pretty sure they love us, too.
I love how our teams come together to discuss their concerns and work together to capture these concerns in writing to share with me. I love how we are able to professionally discuss these concerns with a growth mindset. I love how we all have the common goal of making MMA and her students the best they can be - even if we disagree on the exact path that will take us to that goal.
I love us and hope we have a superb next week. Just five more days until spring break ... :-)
Construction Update
No news is good news.
High Five!
Mandatory Teacher Training
Since this is a required meeting, you may opt to cancel your PLC meetings the week of March 26th.
Volunteers Needed
Ms. Clarissa will need 2 volunteers to play piano for the concert or one person willing to help with all practices and both concert times. She will also need 2 parents volunteers per class for one practice and at the concert.
The Lower El concert pianist would come in to practice with us on April 9-10 and 16-17 from 10:00am to 2:15pm with an hour lunch break from 11:45am-12:45pm. We will also need the Lower El concert pianist to practice for an hour on April 20th in the morning (time TBD) and for the concert on April 20th 5:30-6:30pm.
The Upper El Concert pianist would come in to practice with us on April 11-12 and 18-19 from 10:00am to 2:15pm with an hour lunch break from 11:45am-12:45pm. We will also need the Upper El concert pianist to practice for an hour on April 20th in the morning (time TBD) and for the concert on April 20th from 6:30-7:30pm.
Ms. Clarissa will need 2 parent volunteers per class to come and help organize kids backstage. They will be needed for an hour in the morning on April 20th so we can practice what will happen backstage. Parent volunteers will then be needed at the concert at Weber HS from 5:15-6:00pm on April 20th for Lower El and 6:15-7:30pm for Upper El.
Scholastic Magazines
It is time to order Scholastic Magazines for next year!
Please get with your teams and let Kacee know the anticipated numbers of editions you will need. We can adjust these numbers later; but, we need to order as close to possible to eliminate extra work. Because of all of our Scholastic book fair success this summer, we have quite a bit of money in our Scholastic account and have a little bit more freedom for next year. If you would like the dynamath, or story works to try - please let Kacee know via email.
Take a look at the “Action” edition. It has content appropriate for a 6-12th grader but at a reading level for 3-5!

Class and Group Photos
Class and group photos will be taken on April 10th in the North Kiva. The sign-up schedule will be in workroom.
Any students, staff, and faculty that have not had their pictures taken with Life Touch earlier in the year or came new to MMA throughout the year - please sign up in the workroom and get your picture take on the 10th.
9th grade students will have their photos taken and should sign-up.
Please sign up your Junior high advisories, student council, yearbook class, office, and any groups (class reps, service committee, for example) that need their pictures taken together.
