Newsletter Week 1 Term 3

Huirangi Primary School, Monday 26 July 2021

Kia Ora Koutou, Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to Term 3!

We hope your children have had an enjoyable two week break! There are a few coughs and colds still lingering. Please keep your children home if they are unwell, and dressed appropriately for the colder weather!

Thank you again for attending the Mid Year conferences. Our mid year achievement data is very pleasing and we are excited by the learning that is achieved every day here at Huirangi School.

This term is a busy one! Our major curriculum focus will be through the Arts, with our Lion King Production taking place in Week 10. We also have Cross Country in Week 7, so if this is your thing, start training now! If not, this is a chance to improve our overall health and fitness. Our annual speech competition is also on the agenda later in the term.

The values focus for the term is Family and Whānau, "Communicating and collaborating to build positive relationships".

Let's make this a wonderful term!

Ngā mihi nui,

Natalie Looney

Term 2 Principal's Award

Apologies for an error in the last newsletter of the term. The Principal's Awards for He Puāwai were: Alivia Williams and Evie Wilson.

The top up of the playgrounds looks magnificent! Thanks to our caretaker, Maurice Shaw for arranging the spreading of the bark over the holidays.

We now have surplus bark sitting out the front of school, and would like it gone! We are wanting to get some of our money back from what we have spent on it, and will sell the bark for $80 per trailer load for a single axel trailer. $120 for a double.

If you would like some, come and see us in the office!

Basketball - Competition Round

Basketball recommences tomorrow afternoon for the competition round. Each team member has been given a copy of the draw today.

Please note that the Huirangi Harriers team are on duty tomorrow night - this involves staying at the end and picking up any rubbish, sweeping the hall, checking toilets are clean & tidy. All team members are to undertake this tidy up, and must be supervised by at least one adult.

Again, thanks to Greg Jupp, Megan Taylor, Mel Young and Kristy Hartley for coaching/managing our two teams.

If you have yet to pay the $10 sub for your child, please do so asap.

Kapa Haka

This is just a reminder that ALL friends and whānau of the school are invited to come along and join in on our Kapa Haka sessions. These happen every Friday afternoon from 2.20pm in Room 1.
