A.T.I. (Above the Influence)
It's been a BUSY time for our A.T.I. (Above the Influence) crews!
Cumberland ATI students hosted a "Capture the Flag" event and proudly became a part of the "#DSTRONG" movement, while Lincoln ATI students created & produced a radio PSA about addiction (SEE BELOW!) and planned their next big event, a Dodge Ball Tournament on February 10th!. Stay tuned! Check out the pictures below of just some of the fun! But feel free to check out more pics on our Facebook page by clicking HERE!
ATI “Above the Influence” is a place where teens can learn how to stand up to negative pressures and influences. ATI meets once a week, after school. Youth develop a media campaign to educate and address the negative pressures that they may be facing.. The purpose is to create awareness of the impact of drug abuse and negative pressures on young people. The more aware you are of the types of influence around you, the better prepared you will be to face them. Learn more about the program & check out their website HERE!

Secondhand Smoke PSA, by the Blackstone Valley Prevention Coalition
Up until a child is about 5 years old, the respiratory rate is quite fast.
Young children have little control over their surroundings. Babies can't move to another room because the air is smoky. They depend on the adults in their lives to make sure their environment is safe. For more information on the dangers of secondhand smoke, click HERE!

Easy ways to boost your immunity and avoid colds and flu this season
Let’s face it. Winter is here....and so is cold & flu season! Looking for a few ways to decrease your chances of joining the "Flu Club"? Here are a few:
1. Boost your diet, with fruits and veggies.
2. Exercise regularly; moderate level of regular exercise has a long-term cumulative effect on immune response.
3.Stay Connected; Socializing helps strengthen your immune system by keeping you active and reducing your stress levels.
4. Scrub up! Frequent hand washing is one of the best ways to avoid getting sick and spreading illness as it limits the transfer of bacteria, viruses and other microbes.
5. Sleep Well! Lack of sleep can have a serious effect on your immune system, making you more vulnerable to catching colds.
