Making Rubrics Painless

Rubrics are the best way to assess so many learning activities, but who has the time and patience to create them? Come hone your rubric skills while painlessly creating rubrics you can use in your classroom immediately! (Bring your laptop)
Supporting Struggling Readers
Location: Professional Learning Room 1 (1.143)
Need to differentiate your reading instruction to meet your struggling readers? First, you must know your child so that you can differentiate instruction. Come learn how to analyze running records and get next moves to help your hardest-to-teach students in reading. (Bring any running records you may already have, such as F&P assessments)
Math Differentiation for Gifted Learners
Location: Mrs. Davis's classroom (1.154)
Are you struggling to find a way to differentiate math instruction for your high flyers? Come use the SCAMPER method (used in FOCUS) to teach your children how to modify their math games for themselves! We'll also look at formative & summative assessments to use for flexible groupings for your guided math block, choice menus, and multiple resources to make differentiation do-able.

We'll be looking at intervention strategies for struggling readers and mathematicians. We'll look at the differences between the tiers of intervention, and you'll walk away with tools and strategies you can implement right away!

Project-Based Learning (PBL) naturally lends itself to differentiated instruction. By design, it is student-centered, student-driven and gives space for teachers to meet the needs of students in a variety of ways. We will look at 6 super super-straightforward strategies to differentiate in your PBL projects. Bring your PBL plans for planning at the end of the session.
How Do I Differentiate for my High Achievers?

Do you feel that you aren’t doing enough to meet the needs of your higher level learners? This session will give you a refresher on a variety of differentiation techniques that can be used immediately in your classroom. Bring a lesson that you will be teaching to work on an extension for your high level learners.
Differentiating in Writing Instruction
Location: Looney's classroom (1.158, beside Davis)
Do you need ideas on way to support your students in writing? How do you keep the flow going when creating a writing piece but your students have varying needs? We will work on finding ways to plan for differentiation in writing. Students naturally have stories and important thoughts. Have enough scaffolding in place to capture their stories and knowledge.
