Kyle R. Wilson Elementary
Dear KWES Families,
Thank you for coming out to support our Jump Rope for Heart Event! It was so great to see the students and their families enjoy a wonderful night of simple fun. I enjoyed meeting more families and jumping rope with the students. With your great support, we raised over $2300 to benefit the American Heart Association! Way to Go Wilson Sea Lions!
A BIG Thank you to Chief McGee, his senior staff, and the members of the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue for taking time out of their busy schedules to read to our students in honor of Read Across America Day! State Trooper Carrubba also came in to read to our students in the library. We had a wonderful week celebrating reading and Chief McGee and our local heroes made it that more special!
Uncle Slam visited our school last week to get our kids excited about participating in Uncle Slam's Reading Program. The Potomac Nationals want to team up with local schools to help promote reading. Students that participate will get free tickets to a Potomac Nationals baseball game and on-field recognition before the game. The game is Sunday, May 6th and each bookmark turned in at the game receives two free tickets (please do not send bookmarks to the school). A flyer with details about the program went home in your child’s take home folder. We hope to get great participation from KWES! Our Sea Lions love to read!

We are asking for donations of recycled cardboard tubes (paper towel or toilet rolls) and cereal boxes. We will have a box in the Office to collect the materials. We will start taking donations next week on Monday, please donate any and all that you can provide. Thank you greatly!
If you are at Kyle Wilson ES on a transfer, please complete a new transfer request for the 2017-18 school year. Transfer requests must be completed each year. They are not guaranteed and are dependent on space. If you are planning to transfer to a new school next year, please make sure that you have those submitted to Ms. Norwood by April 1st. The sooner you get them in the better. If you have completed a transfer to attend another school, I sign those as soon as I receive them. We send them to the requested school for further approval. It is up to the parent to contact that school to follow up on whether or not that transfer will be accepted or not.
WARM WEATHER ATTIRE
It is important that as the weather gets warmer that our students come to school dressed appropriately. Please review the parent handbook on our webpage for more detailed information. However, make sure that students wear shorts or skirts longer than the fingertips of their hands, no flip-flops or tank tops with spaghetti straps. If you have any questions please contact administration.
