Stonybrook Scoop

Week of Monday, October 5 - Friday, October 9

Thank you!

Our staff is working incredibly hard to provide the best possible educational experience for your students. Their willingness to listen and learn has been exceptional. This hasn’t been easy, but the already #StonybrookStrong home and school partnership made all the difference! You ROCK!

The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.K.2010, c.122) requires that the week beginning with the first Monday in October of each year be designated as the Week of Respect in New Jersey. School districts observe this week by providing age-appropriate instruction focusing on preventing/remediating harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying.

While we always focus on cultivating a culture and climate that lives in our Full Values, please help us by talking with your students about what these norms mean, not only in school but at home and in our communities:

Be Here

Be Safe

Be Honest

Set Goals

Let Go and Move On

Caring for Self and Others

Welcome to 5th Grade, Miss Zambell!

We are lucky to have Miss Megan Zambell join our Stonybrook School family as the 5th-grade virtual support teacher. She will be joining classes (virtually) for "meet and greets" with the students. You can look forward to having her support the students while they are engaged in asynchronous learning. You can read Miss Zambell's welcome letter here.

Week of Respect 2020

Our school counselors, Mrs. Tenga and Mrs. Romano are excited to hear all the great ways our students, staff, and families are showing respect for ourselves and one another. Each day this week, we will focus on the following:

Monday, October 5th

Random Act of Kindness - We can show respect for others by performing an act of kindness for someone to brighten their day.

Tuesday, October 6th

Compliment Tuesday - give someone a compliment! Ask yourself, "How did it make that person feel? How did I know?" Also ask yourself, "How did I feel?"

Wednesday, October 7th

School Climate Survey- Look for a link to a brief student survey.

Thursday, October 8th

Meet someone new - Take the time to meet students whom you do not know too well. Challenge yourself to make new friends and switch it up.

Friday, October 9th

Diversity Friday - We are all different and that’s what makes us each special. Tell someone about what makes you unique.
