Remember, all purchases benefit our school.
Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:
- Set the example. Let children see you read.
- Have a collection of books in the home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills.
- Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read.

It is that time of the year when we begin gearing up for families to consider St. Paul School for their children next year (2016-17).
- St. Paul is the only school in the area that has experienced a 10% enrollment growth the past three years.
I previously sent you some information regarding the work of the CEF and what they are doing in making Catholic Education affordable for all. This is the message we want to give to everyone. I do not want any family thinking they cannot afford Catholic Education for their children if they want one. I will personally work with them to help get whatever needed assistance they may need.
We received a total of $165,000 for tuition assistance for the school year (2015-16).
- PLEASE SPREAD THIS WORD TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY
In addition, we will once again offer a $1000 discount to all new families who enroll their children in grades K-8. This does not apply to those who are entering Preschool (3YO) or Pre-Kindergarten 4(YO). We will also continue to offer any current family a $500 discount on their 2015-16 tuition for any family they recommend and enroll in St. Paul for next school year. This is a great way to help reduce your tuition. Many current families have taken advantage of this and have had as much as a $1500 discount (3 families) on their tuition this year. GREAT OPPORTUNITY!
Please share the Open House Information with all your contacts and help us get as many families to our Open House as possible.

Parent/Student Conferences
- In order to effectively conference with the students and families that are most needed, we have decided to conference with only those students and families their teachers have identified as needing a conference. This will give the teachers the opportunity to spend more time to discuss an improvement plan in each of the subject areas where the student needs to show improvement. We will conference with all new students and families in grades K-8 in order to meet and continue building a solid teacher, student, parent relationship.
- If you have been identified as having a student that the teacher needs to conference with you will receive a conference request form with dates and times. Please complete the form and return to the office. Some may need to conference with more than one teacher depending on the student’s performance in the subjects he/ she is taking.
- If you do not receive a conference request form then a conference is not needed, unless you wish. The student will not be marked absent since a conference was not needed at this time.
- Conference Request Forms will be sent home with the students on Monday, February 15, 2016

CEF Application for 2016-17 NOW thru MARCH 15th
- The 2016-17 Private School Aid Service (PSAS) tuition assistance application is available online at www.ceflou.org. We also have applications available in the office for those families who prefer to mail their information. Families only need to complete one PSAS application to be eligible for tuition assistance for all their children. The completed application, along with the $25 fee, should be submitted to PSAS on or before March 15, 2016.
- We sent an instructional flyer and application to every St. Paul family recently. Asking for tuition assistance is a very private family decision. Often families who are experiencing difficulty are reluctant to take the steps needed to request assistance but let me assure you, if this is the case the answer will be “Yes” to assistance. Last year with the help of the CEF, needs-based to tuition discounts, archdiocese voucher fund and school choice St. Paul families were awarded $151,960 in assistance.
- NOW IS THE TIME for more families to join our storied Catholic school community with 105 years of tradition.
You can also find various links or files to download that I will post from time to time as rehearsals progress.
