Before you visit the Book Fair, be sure to download the Book Fairs app to help you find the right books for your child. For more information, visit: scholastic.com/apps/bookfairs. And if you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at scholastic.com/fair. Our online book fair site is http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/stpaulelementaryschool2. We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school.

Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:

  • Set the example. Let children see you read.
  • Have a collection of books in the home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills.
  • Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read.

It is that time of the year when we begin gearing up for families to consider St. Paul School for their children next year (2016-17).

  • St. Paul is the only school in the area that has experienced a 10% enrollment growth the past three years.

I previously sent you some information regarding the work of the CEF and what they are doing in making Catholic Education affordable for all. This is the message we want to give to everyone. I do not want any family thinking they cannot afford Catholic Education for their children if they want one. I will personally work with them to help get whatever needed assistance they may need.
We received a total of $165,000 for tuition assistance for the school year (2015-16).

In addition, we will once again offer a $1000 discount to all new families who enroll their children in grades K-8. This does not apply to those who are entering Preschool (3YO) or Pre-Kindergarten 4(YO). We will also continue to offer any current family a $500 discount on their 2015-16 tuition for any family they recommend and enroll in St. Paul for next school year. This is a great way to help reduce your tuition. Many current families have taken advantage of this and have had as much as a $1500 discount (3 families) on their tuition this year. GREAT OPPORTUNITY!
Please share the Open House Information with all your contacts and help us get as many families to our Open House as possible.

Hen Party - 2/15

Saint Paul’s annual Hen Party will be held Monday, February 15, at 7:30 p.m., in the gym. All proceeds from this fundraiser are used to purchase altar bread, wine, candles, vestments, etc., essentials for our worship experience. Admission is $5. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Bring a friend and join us for an evening of fun!
Thank you,
Jeanie Schmuckie

Parent/Student Conferences

Thursday, Feb. 18th, 1-5pm

6901 Dixie Highway

Dear Families of all PreSchool: (PS-3YO)--8th-grade Students

  • In order to effectively conference with the students and families that are most needed, we have decided to conference with only those students and families their teachers have identified as needing a conference. This will give the teachers the opportunity to spend more time to discuss an improvement plan in each of the subject areas where the student needs to show improvement. We will conference with all new students and families in grades K-8 in order to meet and continue building a solid teacher, student, parent relationship.

  • If you have been identified as having a student that the teacher needs to conference with you will receive a conference request form with dates and times. Please complete the form and return to the office. Some may need to conference with more than one teacher depending on the student’s performance in the subjects he/ she is taking.

  • If you do not receive a conference request form then a conference is not needed, unless you wish. The student will not be marked absent since a conference was not needed at this time.

  • Conference Request Forms will be sent home with the students on Monday, February 15, 2016

Fish Fry Raffles 2016

In order to make up for the loss of revenue from our Super Bowl we will have raffles during our Fish Fry’s this year. In addition, I am asking that all families sell or purchase chances on the various items being raffled.
  • First, we are asking that each family donate an item to your class basket (see article below). The class baskets will be on display at each Fish Fry and chances will be $1.00. Drawing will be March 18th at intermission of our bingo and our goal is $1000.
  • Second, we will raffle a 60” LG Smart TV, valued at over $1000. Chances will be $5 and we will be sending home 5 chances per family as well as selling during our Fish Fry’s and Bingo. Drawing will be March 18th at intermission of our Bingo and our goal is $5000.
  • Third, we will have a special “Parking Spot” raffle. The winner of this raffle will receive the first spot daily in the dismissal line. The chances will be $2.00 and we will send home 5 chances for each family. The drawing will be February 26th at 6:00 PM and our goal is $1500.
  • Lastly, we will have a Super Bingo on Saturday, February 20th at 7:30 PM (doors open at 6:00 PM). The cost of admission is $20 and we will send home 1 admission ticket per family to sell or buy. Our goal is $3000.
If we reach our goal with each of these raffles and events we will achieve $10,500. It is very important we reach this goal and each family do their part in the support of the school.
We need individuals (minimum 2) to help sell chances on the baskets and TV raffle chances during the Fish Fry. When you are volunteering on any of the evenings your class works the Fish Fry’s, please indicate to your room mother that you would like to volunteer to sell chances. We will have tables set up for that.

THEME BASKETS - during Fish Fry & Bingo

As many of you know, we are not able to have our Super Sunday Party this year. In an attempt to make up for lost funds, we will be selling chances on theme baskets during the Fish Fry and the Bingo. We will draw the winner’s name on Friday, March 18 for each basket during the Bingo.
The baskets themes are:
  • Preschool and Kindergarten TOOL TIME, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, duct tape, tape measures, flashlights, etc…
  • Pre-K Classes - OFFICE SUPPLIES, pens, pencils, paper, post-it notes,
  • paper clips, etc…
  • 1st and 2nd Grade - SPRING/EASTER, Easter candy, craft items, stuffed animals, flower pots, seeds, garden flag, etc…..
  • 3rd and 4th Grade - FAMILY GAME NIGHT, movies, games, popcorn, snacks, candy, etc…..
  • 5th and 6th Grade - CAR WASH, buckets, sponges, air freshener, car wash soaps, wax, etc…
  • 7th and 8th Grade - WHAT’S COOKING, cooking utensils, dish towels, dish detergents, cookbooks, aprons, etc…
We will also have a GIFT CARD TREE!
Thanks for your support!

CEF Application for 2016-17 NOW thru MARCH 15th

As we begin a new year, I want to encourage each of you to invite more families to join the Catholic school experience than ever before. Last year with your encouragement and with the help of the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) we were able to achieve record-breaking enrollment. We have not stopped growing and with your help, we expect our enrollment to once again grow in 2016.
  • The 2016-17 Private School Aid Service (PSAS) tuition assistance application is available online at www.ceflou.org. We also have applications available in the office for those families who prefer to mail their information. Families only need to complete one PSAS application to be eligible for tuition assistance for all their children. The completed application, along with the $25 fee, should be submitted to PSAS on or before March 15, 2016.
  • We sent an instructional flyer and application to every St. Paul family recently. Asking for tuition assistance is a very private family decision. Often families who are experiencing difficulty are reluctant to take the steps needed to request assistance but let me assure you, if this is the case the answer will be “Yes” to assistance. Last year with the help of the CEF, needs-based to tuition discounts, archdiocese voucher fund and school choice St. Paul families were awarded $151,960 in assistance.
  • NOW IS THE TIME for more families to join our storied Catholic school community with 105 years of tradition.
Together let’s make this happen! Give More…..Get More
