Supply Drop Off and Meet Your Teacher!
On Thursday August 23rd 1:00-3:00, please plan on coming to school to Drop Off your School Supplies and meet your teacher! Class Lists will be posted thoughout the building. In order to alleviate some of the parking lot challenges and to allow more face time with your teacher, we are suggesting the following staggered times:
- Last Names N-Z please come between 1:00-2:00
- Last Names A-M please come between 2:00-3:00
After dropping off your supplies and meeting your teacher, plan on heading out to the courtyard for a cool treat, curtesy of SECO!
If you and your student are unable to make it to this supply drop & meet the teacher event, you may send your child with their supplies on the first day of school and call the office on Friday to learn who your child's teacher is or come with your child on the first day of school, class lists will be posted.
First Day Expectations
After the first day of school we are eager to get students into their regular morning routine. Students will come in and place their lunches on the cart labeled with their teacher's name and then head to a morning supervision location. NEW this year! We will have a rotating schedule by grade level allowing students to be in different locations of the building (playground, cafeteria, library and gym) this plan is still under construction, so more to come!

Staggered Start
The Beaverton School District has a staggered start for Kindergarten students so that roughly half of each class attend on each day, Monday and Tuesday and then all together on Wednesday. This ensures a warm and welcoming start with more personalized attention to each child. Monday we will welcome Kindergarten students with last names that begin A-M and on Tuesday we will welcome Kindergarten students with last names that begin with N-Z.
This year we are implementing a researched based model that will allow us to make the best, most informed decisions about class lists. Kindergarten class lists, i.e. the teacher your child will be assigned to for the year, will not be finalized until Friday, September 7th. During that first week of school, students will have opportunities in the four different classrooms and with the four different teachers.
Below is a link, with more detailed information from the Kindergarten teachers including a link to an article about this research.

No Summer Assessments!
You may remember back at Kindergarten Orientation where you signed up or were told about Summer Assessments for incoming Kindergarten students. This is no longer the case. Your student will be assessed during that first week of school and that will be a part of the information teachers will use to build balanced and equitable class lists.
Tears & Tissues Event for Kinder Parents Wednesday, August 29th at 8:30
In partnership with SECO, we would like to invite Kinder parents to join us for a Tears & Tissue Event on Wednesday, the first day for ALL Kindergarteners together, please plan on dropping your child off with the Kindergarten teachers and joining us for some coffee and camaraderie. We look forward to seeing you there.
Back To School Nights
Thank you!
- 3rd-5th Grades Thursday, August 30th, 6:00-7:30pm
- K-2nd Grades Thursday, September 6th, 6:00-7:30pm
More information will come soon about the schedule of events, but please know that like last year there will be again two identical sessions for each teacher each night allowing families with a kinder student and a second grader, for example to attend a session in both classrooms. We do apologize in advance to families with a student in the primary grades and one in the intermediate grades - meaning there is an evening event two weeks in a row. Thank you for understanding and we look forward to welcoming you on these evenings!
