The Buzz at Westbrook School
January 15, 2020
From the Principal's Office:
Dear Westbrook Families,
We are very excited to welcome students to the building next week. Teachers have been preparing for the transition. They are ready to greet new and returning students to both hybrid and remote learning settings. Thank you parents for supporting students and teachers during this transition time.
We have important reminder flyers with detailed information in this newsletter.
What Happens When a Hybrid Student has to Quarantine?
If a hybrid student is home for any reason but not taking a sick day, she/he will join the class during their 2.5 hours of in-person learning times via Zoom. The child's parent must contact the classroom teacher before the school day begins. The child will log in on Zoom and the teacher will position her/his laptop so that the child can see the instruction. The interaction between teacher and students that we have known in the remote Zoom classroom setting will not be the same, however the student will be a viewing member of the classroom. Our Circle of Friends team will work with parents to support hybrid learning for students at home in quarantine.
Raptor - In-Person Daily Health Screening
You received an email from the District Office yesterday describing our COVID Pre Screening process for In-Person Learning. We know that there will be many questions surrounding this new process and have developed a frequently asked questions (FAQ) document that will help answer some of the questions you may have. Please click here for detailed information and feel free to reach out should you wish to further discuss.
Request for Parent Volunteers
We welcome volunteers to assist with arrival to school. The Westbrook PTO is recruiting parent volunteers to support morning and afternoon arrival. We appreciate their ongoing support. Please use this link to sign up to volunteer to help.
Welcome Back
Dr. Kristin Vonder Haar will be returning to Westbrook school January 22, 2021. We welcome her back from leave. It has been a privilege to be a member of the Westbrook School community these past weeks. The teachers and school staff are simply the best at providing quality instruction for young learners. I leave you with my thanks and best wishes for the future.
Warm regards,
Susan Woodrow
