The Copeland PTO Newsletter
President's Corner by Karen Thomas
I want to give a Big Thanks to Tracy Reynolds and the Colonial Day Chairmen for organizing the festivities. The 5th graders enjoyed a day full of activities that gave them a sense of what colonial life in America was really like.
The time and talents of many other 5th grade parent volunteers also made this event possible, including Hugh Corpening who comes back to Copeland every year to do a convincing performance as Ben Franklin. Thanks to Wendy Johnson for creating the documentation and slide show we needed for the candle making station. All of you are greatly appreciated!
Thanks to all who participated in our Texas Roadhouse Fundraiser to make it a success.
Our first general PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 11th at 6:15 p.m. in the cafeteria. We will have a quick business meeting followed by a performance by the Copeland 5th grade students. Mrs. Vigil and the students are working hard on a production that you won’t want to miss! Mark your calendars now to join us.
December promises to be a fast and furious month! 5th graders will go see the play It’s A Wonderful Life and enjoy a catered lunch on December 5th. The holiday parties will be held on Friday, Dec. 21st. Exact times will be published in the next issue of The Horseshoe Review. Homeroom coordinators will be contacting you soon regarding volunteer opportunities for the parties.
Thanks to the numerous volunteers at Copeland. The services you provide are invaluable and very much appreciated!

Colonial Day was Friday and we want to thank everyone who came out to volunteer to make this day a big success for our 5th graders. A special thank you to Tracy Reynolds for putting in countless hours organizing this event. We also want to thank David Dummond, Stephanie Kollar, Annette Carter, Shanna Wong, Jennifer Emerson, Tricia Penn & Shawn Lapina for stepping up to be in charge of a station. The 5th graders had fun rotated through 9 different stations to experience life during Colonial America.
The PK & Kindergarten kids had pumpkin tasting on Friday as well, be sure to ask them how they like it.
