We hope to see you there!

Cultural Night Family Event

Cultural Night Family Event: Want to learn about other cultures? Want to share about your culture? Please join us on March 3 (6-8pm) for Cultural Night, a time to share and learn about each others’ cultural traditions. Dance, food, music, art, games! We are looking for volunteers to share about their culture at display tables and to help plan the event. If you are interested, please complete this form.

Coaches for Girls on the Run

Exciting news: Girls on the Run is coming to Highland Park Elementary! Girls on the Run is an after-school program that uses the power of running to prepare 3rd - 5th grade girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. The season will run March 28 - June 4, and practices will be each Tuesday & Thursday 2:10 - 3:40 p.m.

We are recruiting coaches for this spring. We must have at least three coaches in order to offer the program. You do not need to be a runner; you simply need to have a desire to support and encourage the next generation. Coaches can be any gender and they receive all the tools and support they need and find that they get as much out of coaching as they give. If you have any questions about coaching, please contact Tracey Lindfors at traceylindfors@gmail.com. You can sign up to be a coach at the Girls on the Run website if you have time either Tuesday or Thursdays (or both days) from 2:00 - 3:45 pm.

School Choice Season

Next Year 2023-2024 Enrollment

Families with children who will be 4 years old by September 1, 2023 can now apply for the Highland Park Elementary (HPE) Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) program for next fall. Children who will be 5 by September 1, 2023 can apply for Kindergarten. The deadline for applying is Friday, February 3, 2023.

If your child is currently enrolled in grades Pre-K to Grade 4 at HPE you do not need to apply for next year. All students in grades Pre-K to Grade 4 will automatically have a spot at HPE for next year.

The district recently mailed letters to families of fifth graders to let you know in which middle school your child has a reserved seat for the upcoming school year. The middle school assignments are based on the family address. If you are planning to have your child attend that middle school, you do not need to take any action. You will receive a letter in the spring with information about how to register your student for classes at their middle school. If you want your 5th grader to attend a different SPPS middle school or if you do not live within the City of Saint Paul, you will need to complete an application.

Attending open house events is a great way to learn more about SPPS middle school options. Upcoming middle school open houses include:

  • Hidden River Middle School (1700 Summit Avenue) – Thursday, January 26, 5:00 pm
  • Global Arts Plus Upper Campus (810 Palace Avenue) – Thursday, January 26, 5:30 pm For a complete list of middle school open houses, visit spps.org/openhouses.

The 2022-2023 School Choice Priority Enrollment deadline for grades Pre-K – 12 is Friday, February 3, 2023. Applying by the deadline is the best way to ensure your child is enrolled in your school of choice. To apply, you can complete an online application at apply.spps.org or call the Student Placement Center at 651-632-3760. If you have questions about the application process, please visit Student Placement Center or call 651-632-3760.
